Guys the thread is for pics of 4 door hardtops. No post between front and rear door = hardtop. Pillar between front and rear door = 4 door sedan.

Lets get this thread back on track. Here's a ****py pic of my old daily beater. 64 Impala Hardtop. I drove it for a few years as a project and sold it before I finished it.

When I was in high school (66-69) there was an "uppercl***man" who had a 57 Bel Air, 4 door, hardtop (AKA Sport Sedan?), who welded up the rear doors, and removed the door handles. The real kicker was, he finished the back seat area into a wrap around "booth", like you'd see in a restaurant. I wonder if the car even exists today, but it was a very nice car back then. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Rarerodder, very nice '56. Another one I'd like to see more of. Fell in love with the mid fifties Pontiac back in high school. Never owned on, but maybe someday. -Dave.

My 57- had to buy it and a 4 door sedan as a package to get the 2door post I was after. Now I'm more into this thing than the 2door. Last played in 82.

I like '56 Ford 4-door hardtops, but they're just about extinct. This isn't my car:

always thought the '56 Mercury Phaetons were a good-looking car and just a step down from the 2dr hdtp

Color has a lot to do with the appeal of 4 drhtps
(just a pic off the 'net)

Long time ago some cousins and I would go from small town to small town looking for old cars.
Spotted an all white 57 Mercury 4drht Turnpike Cruiser in "the weeds" at a dealers lot.
Obviously there was something wrong with it. Cousins talked me out of inquiring about it, cuz it was "just an old lady's car". You know....can't be seen driving one of those !!

  22. here is my hard top and my roadster together, except my hard top is a 2 door and a pickup and my roadster is a bike.

I guess that hard top is lost on the m***es. A hard top either 2 or 4 door is a convertible with a roof. No B pillar.
I really like the flat top Chevys but my favorite off all time 4 door hard tops were the '56 Chevy. I have owned a Buick and a Merc 4dr hdtp but the '56 chevy has always eluded me. :(

  24. Most 4 door hardtops have a certain charm about them but you are correct sir that is one beautiful car.

I have seen some that got all pimped out that were just ugly as ***, it takes a certain amount of finesse to personalize one without ruining its cl***. This little Olds has been finessed.

I personally like the roof of the 57 Bel Air 4 door hardtop over that of the 2 door hardtop

Also, people need to get educated as to the differences between a hardtop and sedan. It doesn't literally mean a physically hard top.

I always loved the 4dr hardtop body styles. I recently sold my 64 wildcat and the Le Sabre had to go aswell a few years ago... The were great cruisers ... I´d love to have one as a race car tow vehicle some time in the future, just fit the crew and beer coolers in the back, gear and wrenches in the trunk and the g***er on the trailer and here comes the party! I´m going to build a 53 Chevy g***er, and maybe later a 56-57 4dr hdtp would be awesome as a tow vehicle....need to stop day dreaming...

A '55 or '56 Olds 88 4-door hardtop has been sitting & rotting into the mud for at least 10 years just down the road from me. I see it every day and it always makes me sad. (Too far gone for me to mess with)

Thanks for all the compliments guys! She shows her 59 years of age but I like her. I put the wheels and WW's on as well as changed the headlight bezels to '57 Pontiac ones. Even though the original paint on them doesn't quite match the rest of the car (for now), I think they look better than the original '56 bezels. That's my uncle's 41 Pontiac 'soft-top' beside me.
