Hot Rods Anybody run their flathead powered hotrod on a Dyno?

I'll be interested that is similar build to what I have in mind. Real numbers seem to be hard to find. May be a few more people will post with actual numbers from trad set ups.

 

This one was 292", High Dome Navarro heads, JE pistons, Isky 404 A camshaft and a Vertex Mag. On an engine dyno it made 225 hp. This was back in 2001. Had trouble with the radius tappets and replaced it with a 425 Schneider, never tested it again.

 

Wow, awesome!

 

Maybe it pulled some pretty weak numbers, or maybe it blew up on the dyno run?

 

Maybe didn't live up to his expectations.

 

We would kill for a 225 hp engine for our 1949 Ford Flathead Bonneville Truck !!!!! No blower....

 

Me too. That's what I thought too. That is a lot of HP from a flatty without a huffer!

 

We had a lot of fun with that car, including the times we put Indy Veteran "Len Sutton" behind the wheel, on a 1/4 mile dirt track.

 

I bet! Was this car featured in a Hop Up article?

 

We had 5 of the cars featured in R&C in the same article. My #7 was in TRJ # 10

Guess he didn't like his numbers . . . and no longer wanted to share! My guess - about 130 to 140 at the rear . . . if it 'lived' through the experience!
