Correct. Back in the 70s, when I did body and paint, we would call the wrecking yards and ask for a front clip for whatever, We got all of the sheetmetal. I think you had to tell them if you needed the bumper. If we needed a sub frame, that's what we ordered and that's what we got. I also spent a fair amount of time in the cabs of semi tractors. The engine cover on a COE is called the doghouse. That's what all the truckers called them
Exactly the same next door in Wisconsin. I have never heard the front sheet metal of a car or truck called a dog house. In the body shop business, if you clip a car, (front or rear) it is the sheet metal not frame horns or sub frame, unless the frame is one piece with the other sheet metal.
Maybe this guy doesn`t know what he is talking about. Then you should inform him what it should be called. A front clip.
When I worked at the junkyard in Tucson in the early 80s, the front clip was called a dog house. We had a row of them, and the dogs liked them for the shade.
