The only Motors manual I have has no listing for a Rambler, but I imagine 1-6 front to back. Is there a firing order on the manifold or head? What year?

The distributor drive gear for the L-head is actually attached to the oil pump. The dizzy shaft has an offset slot in the end so it will only go in one way. That's good because you need to pull the dizzy to change/adjust points. Just note about where the body is turned before pulling. But if the engine has been rebuilt the wires on the dizzy may need to be moved because the timing of the oil pump moved. Lots better than trying to pull oil pump and time it that way!
