I need a longer Mechanical Speedo cable since I recently did a T5 swap. I nee one about 66" long +/-. Parts place could only find ones that are 63" and then 80".

Does anyone know of one that will be closer to 66"? I suppose 80" would work but it will be quite a bit longer than necessary.

Go to your local NAPA parts store and ask the "older" counter guy to look up a list of speedo cables that fit the trans output (you can measure that) and the speedo which I think are usually 7/8" I needed one 76" for my 40 coupe and got one around 84" which works but required some "re-routing" to make it fit. I believe that the NAPA web site gives lengths and end connection threads so also check that out.

get the 80" cable, cut it with a sharp cold chisel and epoxy the end on and good to go.

I have an 80" one but it doesn't have a threaded end at the gauge...supposedly you suppose to just push it on ( it doesn't work that well ) So you think I can cut that end off and put the original end that threads into the gauge on the new cable with epoxy and it will hold up??

there should be a speedometer shop not too far from you,
they can make up any combination of ends and lengths for you

  7. Yep, there's still some of those around, not too expensive either (or at least wasn't the last time I had one made).
