Thanks guys, i have been working on it when I can. ill post some more pics of the firewalls fitted onto the car. But 30 degrees in a non heated garage, is too cold for a south-central Texas boy.

  2. Hey Buddy, I know where you are at on the Cold garage mine is about the same, finally going to warm up a bit here, was out in mine, got some work done today so I feel pretty good.

yes sir, one cranking and one squirting fuel down the tubes. Iam sure it would start with just cranking it, if you have a good enough battery.

I got the outer firewall bolted to the structure, so i can plug weld it.
Cut the hole and fitted the steering coloumn.
Iam going to Ireland for vaction next week, and the ol lady wants me to help pack and such, so I most likely wont be posting any new updates till I get back.

The driver of the Pontiac-powered Willys was Bill Jarrett. The Chevy-powered Willys was "Jumpin" Jerry Koch. Jerry is very much alive and doing great. Before the dragstrip shut down, it was called San Antonio Drag Raceway, go Rittimann Rd. to the end and turn left. It is Gibbs-Sprawl Rd. now. Good memories.

Devoz, your avatar really resembles Jerry Koch's '41 Willys when he raced it.

No problem guys, I enjoy looking at the old pictures!

I got the inner firewall bolted into place and the hole cut for the steering column.

Working on the lower outer part of the firewall where the fenders bolt too, going to box it in nice and clean.

Good to see you back on the coupe. Jarrett and Koch's cars were always magazine quality.

I didn't see a email link on the website, but do yall think they would let my car into The Lone Star Roundup, if I put the fenders and such back on, like I had it?

Thinking of working on the gauges and wiring, then haul it up to that show.

Ive been to the show just to look, and it was a GREAT show!

I got the gauges mounted to the panel, and sensors and tubing ran to the engine. Also installed and wired push button and toggle switch in dash.

    Thank You,
I ran the kill switch and starter wires, and the gauge wires and tubing down the inside of the inner firewall and out.
I built a channel to cover the wiring out of some left over 16 gauge steel.

Also looks much better with the rear fenders on!

Hey, ALLSTEELWILLYS, I don't think you will have any problem showing up in that '40. Have you seen that red ? Lincoln Zepher, maybe '39 that always shows up ? It looks like he just drove out of a swamp, yet people are all over it. It is a neat survivor and so is yours. Drive that baby.

Your Stude is so RIGHT. What happened to all of those '39-'42 coupes ? One would be a welcome change from Willys coupes, especially since I can't afford a steel one. I have looked for years but can't find one, even a Commander or President. I would build whatever I could find. A '56 330 Desoto is waiting in the wings. Love your ride.

    Thanks Gary.
No I don't recall which Lincoln you are talking about. But ill keep a eye out for it this Saturday. Hope to see some fellow HAMB folks there!!!

  21. Cool build & history - my Anglia had a 394" Olds and a 'hydro' back in the day! It had a tunnel ram type base with a 1/4" aluminum plate, added instead of the top half, & was machined to hold a single 4 barrel carb - this was sadly yanked for a sbc in later years, as in the color picture 1922964_613070298774480_936421450_n.jpg lor picture

I mounted some slicks to the original American's my dad had on the car! I will use pie crusts later on, but these are just temporary.

Any ideas to reomve the 'yellow' stain from the wheel before the show?
I will most likely get them blasted later.

It was nice talking yo you at LSRU, I really dig the car and History, I'm glad it wasn't turned into a street rod, I had to undo my panel from and turn it into a gasser, I got a video of you driving off too, have to post it. I need to finish mine and maybe we can drag them to some shows together :)

Man this car is badass.... I love it.... but I just don't get your dad not wanting to talk about it... I mean to stop racing it suddenly, park it in a barn at your uncles house, sale everything else, and never tell you about it just seems crazy odd to me....
Have you tried to pry any info out of him lately.... I mean did he loss his job and have to sale out.... did he have to stop racing when he married your mom and resents her for it... or run over a run over a kid on halloween night and have to hide the car to keep from going to jail.... Damn it man I want to know.. no, I've got to know !!!!

Nice talking to you. We will have to get our cars together at some shows, that would be really cool. I really liked talking to everyone there, and sharing as much as I can about the car.

JB_roadrage, He actually let a little more info out, and my mom is searching for pictures of the car from back when. Trust me I want / need to know more than anybody!
