A guy at work told me last night that they are working on a Roth movie with John Goodman as Roth. Can anyone confirm this?
That's the word from Dennis Roth,..... or you can ask him yourself at Autorama, Lil' Daddy will be there ,.........
Yup!....made in Toronto by Ron Mann's "Sphinx Productions"..... but I think it's more of a do***entary,...not sure about John Goodman.
The movie is set to premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin Texas on March 10th-12th. Along with the film debut will be a series of resin Rat Fink characters as interpreted by various artists from around the country. These are being readied for an artist's retropective on Ed at the Petersen Automotive Museum to begin in September. These will be auctioned off to benefit the Rat Fink Preservation Partnership. I believe John Goodman will be doing a voice-over of Ed.
Very excited about this movie. Talked with the director towards the end of filming. I am also friends with The Sadies who wrote and performed the music for the film/do***entry. It will go to at least two film festivals and then I hope to have the movie shown here at the Asbury Lanes outside on our Drive-In Movie nights this spring. The Sadies will play inside on the stage in the middle of the lanes. Just waiting on the word, very excited! Movie will go to all its respected spots first, stay tuned!
.............hey Mel.........got any posters for this event??? Sounds like it would be worth the drive to Joisey.......
"Voice talents of John Goodman" lead me to believe it might be more animated than real life, unless they threw in old Roth footage... either would be cool daddio.
Patience,Tiny.....I'm working on the exhibit poster art as we speak....The show will be called "Rat Fink's Revenge!" - The Custom Monster Collection.... The theme here is a tribute to the days of Revell and model glue, monster shirts and flourescent paint, styrene and model boxes...... I'll be doing at least two different variations, with different approaches to the art.... The resin figure itself is patterned after the original Revell kit in pose..... As for the movie, we cant afford 400 bucks to attend the whole deal just to see the Roth movie, so we will just have to wait...... Johnny & Kali
Funny thing, that was the exact same reaction we had upon first hearing the news....but oddly enough, Goodman can sound like Ed when he was speaking at a normal tone.... Don Rickles take on "Big Daddy" in Bikini Beach was my favorite...... Johnny
Hey JA! Do you know if the film will be released so us general public types will be able to see it? I was thinkin bout drivin to Austin to see it but that 400 hundred buck ticket price seems a little steep! Do you know if there is any way I could just see the movie and not do the whole SXSW thing. And I do want a poster!
Quien Sabe, BoomBoom,ol buddy..... Mold-Covered Marvin said that Mann is going to hold an LA premiere, but that's too far for us Texas-types to walk.... Fair bet it will be on one of those A&E or IFC channels, they show stuff like that all the time...hopefully dvd before that ,though...... Johnny
After the big tado the movie well be shown in independent theatres accross the country.. then maybe overseas.. after that it will hit TV.. history or A&E or maybe even the Disney Channel.. Then it will go to DVD so eventually everyone will be able to see and own it!!!!!!...

Huh Go Figure, I'm one of the "artists" painting one of the Rat Finks! I was gonna set it up and have some of the pinheads at Detroit each do a little bit. FRITZ
