$(KGrHqR,!q4E+oHOWO7WBQNVy-P(sw~~60_57.jpg I'm watching an evilBay auction for a pair of '59 Edsel c-pillar trim pieces. I can't find a good enough picture of the Custom, but was wondering if anyone knew if they were the same for both cars?
    Thanks, Bob

I think those pieces are the same as those used on the non-Galaxie Fairlane 500 (and possible Fairlane) rather than the Custom 300. The Custom 300 piece is painted and doesn't extend over the window molding or have the wide section at the top. However, they should certainly fit the Custom 300.

They'll fit, but I think the Custom 300 ones are painted steel. I parted one out a few years ago and mine were just painted. I have a '59 Edsel and have had a '59 Fairlane 500, that's the ones you want. As long as it's a Fairlane and NOT a Galaxie, the Galaxie ones have the boxy pillars like a retractable.

So you want them to go on a Ford and the ones are from an Edsel? I think I mixed those up. Yes, the Edsel ones will fit, but like was mentioned, they overlap. Cut to fit or remove the end pieces from the Ford.

Thanks, great info here. I asked someone else about the Ford ones that had a parts car and he mentioned they were rotted out, so I say they are steel. The Edsel ones are stainless and may overlap the chrome wrap-around molding at the top, I can butcher the $85 pieces to fit better. Now that I have a picture to go by, I'll make a pair out of aluminum and glue them on my c-pillars.

I've seen them served up a few ways, that's why I was a bit confused about them. Painted, chromed or simply not there. I originally thought they were pot metal.

I got them with a load of other interior trim I was missing (Owens Auto Salvage). They're stamped steel. I'm having everything gl*** beaded right now and told them to go easy on this trim.

I am thinking about it myself. Going to check with another chrome shop and see if they are salvageable.

What was the deal with this C-pillar trim on the 59 Edsel? Instead of being straight across the top, its angled downward. Is this only for the 4 door hardtop models and would this trim fit on 2 door models? Does it share the same back gl***? 1959EdselRightSideView.jpg

That piece is four-door hardtop only. While the all Edsels, hardtop or sedan, and all non-Galaxie '59 Ford sedans and hardtop share the same rear window, I'm pretty sure the four-door hardtop '59 Edsels and non-Galaxie Ford Fairlane 500 "Town Victorias" have a narrower C-pillar, a slightly longer side window opening and both have that kick-up on the rear door with the ribbed bright metal trim.

Mine are back from gl*** beading. The surface rust left most of the surfaces too pitted for chrome. I'll have to go with high-build primer and paint.
