I still don't feel good about doing a long distance "bashing" on basic info.

One way to possibly prove that the cam bearing spun, and was replaced, is that when you remove the one in the motor now, the bore hole in the block "should" show prior galling or sanding marks??

Ok, it is still hard to imagine any engine shop missing the oil hole alignment. Even if they never did an Olds Rocket.

But, if they did, then that explains grinding damage to the crank thrust, and "if" that much is true, you can bet they never "tore down the complete motor" after finding the bad cam bearing and later, finding a bad thrust. So it had trash in all the p***ages, each time you installed it.

This stuff, if true, helps give vintage motors a bad name, and helps promote 350/350 swaps.

Further dis***embly showed some other issues. All five of the cam bearings show excessive wear on the bottom side.
The second cam bearing which is responsible for oiling the driver side valve train has displaced bearing material gathered up towards the top. I could see if this would continue to displace material, it could block off the oil hole in the bearing.

When the heads were done, The builder used SBC Chevy valvesand possibly the Chevy Springs. They look a lot beefier than the original Olds ones.

Could this cause excessive valvetrain pressure pushing the cam downwards wearing the bottom of the bearings? ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1427669417.209563.jpg
