I have looked and looked for a pair now with no luck like many of you have ,some one told me that they were once repoped in the 70's or 80s. if they were repoped once they can do it again right? see were this is going?? But before I dive in head first. I would like to know how many people would really want a pair? but first i got to find a pair get this ball or should I say hollywood flipper rolling. thanks kilgers kustom metal 909-888-9045 kilgers@msn.com

Heard the same. The old ones had more of a dome and the ribbed edge. It's surprising nobody has repopped them lately.

the hard thing about re-popping them is the backing. do you only manufacture them for just ford rims? what about guys with other makes. also not very men people have the right types of rims for these caps. you need the ones that have the clip to hold them. do you make them in 15" or 16"? its is crazy thinking no one has re-popped them, but then you gotta look at all things i just said. i think that why someone did those really cheesy flipper disk.

Great idea. I have always wondered why these wonderful early aftermarket hubcaps where not reproduced. Sure there are the cheapo single bar smooth hubcaps that are posted on this thread, but those just dont work on a real good looking custom.

There are quite a few styles to choose from. And I hope you get enough responces to go with your plans to produce them. So that all the guys who want to create some 1940's looking custom can choose the right hubcaps for them.

Here are some photos I took at Wolf's place in 2007 at the A-Bombers show in Sweden.

My dad had a set of those on his '34 coupe back in the late 30's. In the 50's most guys thought they looked lame, considering the new style Olds flippers.

I bought one for $5 you can have if you want to repop these and put me down for atleast one set. It is pitted and not the best example but the price is right.

I've been looking for a set for my Dad's '38. Put me on your list if you get 'em going. Good luck.

They were repoped for what must have been a very short time. I went to Hot August Nights in 1999 and there was a vendor there selling them. I actually held one in my hands. I was pissed. I was sure that they would end up like 39 tail lights...boring. I never saw an ad for them so I guess it never went anywhere. I recently lost 2 of mine on the highway when I tried to use them on my 34 P/U. They were on my sport coupe for years but didn't make it one full day on the P/U.

There was more than one manufacturer.

    Rick,
This is a photo of the cap on my 36 coupe taken at an old abandoned schoolhouse in New Mexico on our drive to LSRU in 2007.

Wierd seeing the photo posted by someone else.

I was given a box of these (6) that came out of Ernie Ermoso's stuff after he died. There were ony a few good ones in the box and those are my spares for the day when one flys off the coupe. I am always looking for more but the few time I've found ones like this they have been expensive. Saw a set of 4 for $450 at Roadster show this year (ouch!). I would buy re-pops if done well.

    Hi John,

Yeah those photos came from you.. I meant to mention it but I'm struggling with a computer that dies every 5 or so minutes. SO I was happy I could post them. New computer is on its way... now I'm on my wife's...

Here is another shot of the wonderful 36 Ford of John Mearns and a great set of ripple dish flipper hubcaps.

They are the hubcaps that I was just fascinated by as a 6yr old in L.A. Was my hot rod awakening. The first were plane/jane W/O the flipper bar, but when that flipper came in, it just grabbed yer eye. Bring em back, thier time has come.

I sent him one over a year ago for a pattern, and he was going to make repros. Haven't heard from him in a long time.
