1952-59 Ford Removing dash from 1956

    .............guys, I am wiring my 56 fairlane. I went ahead and pulled the engine and trans. I plan on pulling the dash, are there any tips you guys have for removing the dash? Do I need to pull the steering column to do this? I have the rebel kit........ 9 plus 3. Thanks, Carl

    If it's similar to the '54 Ford you shouldn't have to remove the column but the column does bolt to the dash.

    There should be a bolt just under the dash next to the door and you will have to remove the lower windshield trim to access to screws that hold the dash to the body. HRP

    I'm taking the one out in my '59 now. Drop the steering column down, everything else as HRP suggested. Take some pictures of how the heater cables hook up and anything else critical.

    Thanks guys, looking at it tonight I was thinking...........why work around it , I already have the engine and trans pulled no big deal now to drop the column. Have a great week. :)

    Go for up, take some pics, label a few things here and there, save all the hardware in a safe place and have fun with it.

    Pulling the dash does indeed make the whole wiring process easier. HRP

    What HRP said I rewired my 56 Vicky with a rebel 9+3 also and I painted it HOK cinder red. I also installed Omega gauges and trashed the oem idiot gauges.Look on my profile for pics,Thanks.
