Is anybody running a T-10 behind a SBC in their 35-36 ford? I picked one up and would like to replace the 350 automatic with it but would like to know what complications I may run into. If any.

I have a Muncie behind a flathead in a '40, which is similar but kinda not. Major thing you'll run into is a need for more clearance for the shifter. I had to notch the X member in that area and box it back in. Also, depends what pedal setup you are using, but you might need to do some fancy fab for that as well. I have a '39 pedal set in mine.

  5. I'm running one behind a 307 Chevy in my '38 Ford pickup, very similar frame to your '35-'36. I originally planned to run a Turbo 350 so bought the Ch***is Engineering kit and split the wishbone and opened up the X member to clear the tail of the transmission. The T-5 is longer, and the mount is further back, so had to redrill the holes for the rear trans mount on the bottom plate of the X member kit. Used a bellhousing from a '76 Chevy pickup, handing pedal ***embly from '52-'56 Ford car, clutch uses a master and slave from a mid '70s Mazda/Ford Courier to work the clutch fork that came with the bellhousing.

Would you have pictures of your clutch ***embly? is it below the floor? Or firewall mounted?

The notch was probably four inches wide by ten inches long. It's been years since I've been under there and it's hard to remember exactly. I built a rod to connect to the throwout arm.

  8. I have a Muncie behind a Olds Rocket in my '36. As mentioned, I had to cut quite a bit for the shifter. Here's a pic of the X-member area and one of my clutch linkage (using '39 pedals too)...

Here is what I did in my old 36 coupe.I wanted to retain the 39 pedal ***y and replaced the pulled the Flathead in favor of a SBC so used a SBC to 39 trans adapter, then the Speedway T5 to flathead adapter.Had to use the early Chev flywheel which the Flathead pp bolted right on.Had to use the 55-57 Chev starter also. The trans is actually a S15 from a 93 GMC.It has the Ford pattern so I had to get the Wilcap plate to get it to work.Biggest problem for me was the pilot bushing.Had to have a new bronze one made since the input shaft of the trans reach was 3/4" short. What I did was complicated but it worked.

Looks like the straight axle is still in there and the firewall is not cut. What kind of motor mounts did you use? My SBC oil pan is banging into the cross member.....
