Does anyone know if a 1940 pontiac 6 cylinder 4 door sedan front fenders and hood will fit on a 1940 chevy coupe? I'm building a pontiac powered 40 chevy coupe and I have found a 40 pontiac sedan that has a lot of good parts.
I've got a 40 chevy coupe. I've found that only Chevy parts work on it. 40 was kinda a one year only car, they seemed to have used parts from several to make one. Maybe if you did the whole shebang, it might work-but then you'd have a pontiac. Maybe someone has some better info. Good luck cooger
I have a '40 Pontiac 6 cylinder, and NO the front end will not fit. The '40 Pontiac was a one year car, the front end is a 7 pice monster. The 6 cylinder is 3" shorter in the fenders and hood than the 8 cylinder. I did notice this post is old and you have probably already figured it out. Best Brad Joe
there are 3 different coupe bodies for 1940 small , medium and large. the small body is similar to chevy from the firewall back, but has a longer wheelbase then the chev, so the front clip will not inter change, this was about 40% of production, the medium is 60% of production and shares nothing with chevs, th elarge bodies are very rare as only 5000 cars were produced in all body styles
