Haven't posted in a while, picked up a 54 a while ago and am gettin going on the restoration, thought I'd post some pics, replaced front floor pans and rockers from EMS before I put on rotisserie, pulled 239 3spd with overdrive out, if anybody can make good use of the motor and ****** come and get it, it was a running , driving car before teardown although motor was tired, don't know if OD works, I'd hate to s**** it but hope somebody can use, anyway onward and forward.
Hi 62ute, cars looking good, I'm going to be doing the same thing on the floors and the rockers on my 54 ford 2 door wagon. I'm curious how did you lift the body off the frame? What do you think the body weights? Thank you, Dave
Don't think I would be s****ping those parts, there are still a lot of Y-block guys out there that could use them. The bell housing flywheel and clutch and O.D. transmission brought about $450 that I put towards the 302 swap. Do a little ebay check, you'll see what I mean.
Nascardave, I used a cherry picker hooked to front and a come- a- long hooked to back connected to shop header, ball park weight probably 600 to 800lbs, that's stripped down, body o nly except I still have back window in mine
Nice set up for the rotisserie. I am almost ready to pull my '54 Victoria body off the frame. What do you have the front and rear 2 X 6 boards attached to on the body? Looks like through the tail light holes somehow and I can't figure out the front at all. I have a homemade rotisserie that I used for building my '54 F-100 so I can modify it for attachment points. Oh, and the floor panels you di look fantastic! I have most of mine ripped out now as well as rockers. Hope to shape my own floor panels, toe boards, and inner/outer rockers. Thanks for the info in advance, Steve
Steve, ya I used 2x8's attached in back through taillight mounting holes, front was a little tougher I used 1 1/8" thick plywood (from a concrete form job) and cut to fit were the vent openings are attached with deck screw from inside firewall, then I screwed 2x8 to plywood pieces that were attached to firewall, oh maybe you already know this but I recommend you replace rockers, pans ect.. before you put on rotisserie or your body could get out of wack, I even put bracing in door openings just to be on safe side, although probably not necessary on a hardtop, good luck Scott
Thanks for the info, Scott. Yes, I am replacing the rockers and floor pans before I pull the body. Just to be safe I will still brace and cross brace. I have most of the driver's side floor removed and all the driver's side rocker and the driver's door still fits perfectly and opens to allow space to work. This is quite different from the pickup I built as I am going to have to make lots of panels instead of buying re-pops. Cost also came in to play. Good luck with your re-build, Steve
