Greeting all: I have some leftover PPG DBU from when I painted my Falcon about 15 years ago. I bought an extra qt back then to have extra if/when I needed it - it took the local PPG supplier a couple of weeks to get the original color formulated in a base/clear - and they nailed the color/metallic flop.. I had a bit more than a qt of base left originally (now after painting my new wheels, there is a bit less than a qt). The paint has lost some of the solvents and is quite thick - almost a paste. I put a small amount of extra DRR into the mix that I used today to thin it down. I want to move the remainder into a qt can and I would like to be able to "wash out" the thick "paste" out of the gallon can (and not waste the precious, to me, remains). Is there a PPG solvent that I can use in fairly small quan***ies to blend in with the DBU and not affect the longevity of the remaining DBU?
No, I asked at my local PPG retailer but the answer I got was "use reducer" followed by DRR for DBU. The reactive reducer will catalyze the DBU - not what I am intending to do. I'll head over to PPG to see if I can find the answer.
