1952-59 Ford 390 in a 54 Ford

I am back ...long story, but back on again..I think a 390 Ford will bolt in a 54 US Ford....much trouble.? any helpful hints.? thanks Rockin Rebel

 

If you can put a 460 or an Old's in there the 390 should fit as well. Where you thinking of that 60 T bird motor?

 

No problem. You would be the 499,999th Ford guy to put an FE in a '54 - '57 Ford since 1958. Jeffdb2 and other forum guys can point you to mounts.

I installed a 390 in my first '54 Ford back in 1966 and don't recall it being a big problem,at 16 I didn't have many tools and my fabrication skills were nil so it shouldn't be a problem today. HRP

 

hey Roy, just bought a 74 Ford 390-4 speed for my next 54 Ford project and I bought a tri-power for a 390, on ebay, that uses strombergs...

I have a 390 in my 54. It fits, but you need the left exhaust manifold from a 63/64 t-bird to clear the steering box.

Watch the motor mounts... the early 60's have different mount bosses than the late 60's-70's engines.
