    To Stovebolt's point of an LLC/crowd fund and to Cowtown's point of the investment not being a bad one, but rather not a good fit for his investors;

    To keep the SAR dies producing we need;

    A) An established aftermarket company to buy the tooling/interest in the 34 Coupe (Brookville, Speedway, etc). One look at the SEMA show will tell you how small 1.8 mil looks.

    B) A well off hobbyist (or small group of well off hobbyists) that can bank roll the capital for the venture. Poteet, Meyer, Gibbons. There are guys that drop this sort of $$$ at Barrett/Jackson without batting an eye.

    C) Lasty, the LLC type that Stovebolt spoke of. Do what start up as well as established company's do; go public and sell STOCK to raise capital. Start up and established co.'s live by it.
    Your core investors put up a Mil and own a major percentage of the co.
    Sell 20,000 shares @ $50 as an IPO=$million. Build in a spiff for the IPO, if you buy a minimum of 100 shares ($5000), you're a charter member and get 10% off SAR product for a year. That means a $30,000 body is discounted $3000.

    I'd love to see the project saved. All said, I believe the price point needs to be lower. The fast nickel/slow dime conundrum. At $20 grand, would they sell so hot you couldn't make them fast enough? How many "shots" do the dies have left in them? Can you make a profit @ 20k?

    If it was the early to mid "80s you might have had a chance. Even then it was a risk. Back then there were over a dozen hot rods being built by guy's in my area. Guess how many are being built today, not one that I know of.

    You must remember that Brookville choose the most popular body styles to come to market at a time when the business was booming. Add to that, the SO-CAL promotion of their Deuce parts really complimented their bodies. SAR, while high in quality and price, deemed it necessary to select the model 40 which is not nearly as popular as the Deuce. Again, SO-CAL stayed with the marketing plan for the Deuce and made parts available through their extensive distribution net work. SAR did all the things right with advertising, event displays and manufacturing but the demand wasn't there — and still isn't. I am a big fan of the model 40 but our hobby is changing, as the core enthusiasts age, the demand becomes less and less.

    Bob Drake tried very hard to market the 40 coupe and again — the demand wasn't there and the price was more than you could go out and purchase a nice original for $25 -30K that was running and driving. Don't get me wrong, investment capital is available from many sources for such a product but I seriously doubt the project will pencil. Speed 33 is also producing nice bodies with a price tag that sets some folks back but they still seem to be able to market them to the m***es. We can only hope that someone will figure out a less costly business plan that could be successful in the marketplace. I wish them luck! I want a 33 roadster.

    You would think one of the majors would scoupe it up to boost their product line. Maybe not the time for complete body's, but they would sell a lot of panels. If they started with a few key items, like doors, cowls and deck lids. I bet they would do well.

    Did anybody ever get in touch with Experi-Metal? It's funny, but personally, one of the reasons why I'm into this whole way of life is because of the Model 40. Chapouris drove that car past a 9yr. old in 1973 and I've been hooked ever since.
    I saw Dave Brost = Designer at SAR at both Roadster Shows in L.A. and we spoke of this in Jan/June. Interest was there, but it takes alot $'s to bring things to market in m***. They needed way more customers for all of the Model 40 Project. I wish that we all had a ton of dough, cuz I need the parts that Cow Town speaks of for a 34 that I've had for years. Just never have $'s when the stuff is available.
    I ran this past Kenny @ Brookville as well, if it were a mil, then it would be a doable deal,
    so perhaps an a partnership in the sum of $800K from the HAMB Co-Op,SO-CAL,CYCLONE,PETE&JAKES,BRIZIO,
    FOOSE,RAD RIDES BY TROY,AUSTIN SPEED SHOP and anyone else as an LLC. Mind you, this is just for the $800k. We'd have to talk Kenny into the Cool Mil Deal.
    Imagine these cars being built by all of these guys named above, especially Pete C, doing an exact recreation of the "Kid" as it was when built in TC 42 yrs. ago. Heck, If you buy into SO-CAL one has the opportunity to have a version of the SO-CAL 32 for their shop. Mind you the version that Jerry @ Pete & Jake's has is still a very kool car, but it's not exactly the R&C or Street Rodder Cover Car in its present guise, but still a great representation of what Pete & Jake's as a company produces as product.
    If I had a Cool $800k as investment capital, I rather invest into my HAMB friends than any 401k or the stock market ;). Just trying to save the tooling......

    Someone should at least stamp the quarter panels, so all those 4dr sedans can get coverted over to coupes.
