Hi Guys, Im in the middle of sorting out some of my electrical issues on my truck. It has a 292 y block in it. i rebuilt the generator and starter. I used new wires to hook everything up. Installed a new voltage regulator, new spark plugs and spark plug wires. new points, condenser, rotor and cap and also a new ignition coil. My distributor is original to the truck so i cleaned it up and made sure the springs and weights are ok. I ended up replacing the vacuum advance on it. I cant say for sure if the lobes on the cam are worn. I have no play in the distributor shaft.

My truck fires up great. I used a dwell meter to help me adjust my points gap and i have it right on at 27 degrees. My question is regarding the readings i took from the ignition coil. Are these readings correct? I have a ballast resistor wire that runs in line so i know I will not have a full 12 volts to my coil but I thought that my coil positive and coil negative should be more, like 6 volts or am I wrong?

Battery Positive to Coil Negative-6 Volts
Battery Negative to Coil Positive-10.5 volts
Coil Positive to Coil Negative- 3 volts

Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

Anyone know if my readings at my ignition coil are correct? I want to make sure they are within spec before I time my engine.

Battery Negative (or any good ground) to Coil Positive-10.5 volts

That's how I've always measured them and 10.5 is about right.
