I am trying to find a transmission for my '59 401 Nailhead, and I was wondering if the bolt pattern is a BPO?
I guess I could answer with a bit more detail. If you're trying to get away from the Dynaflow and the torque tube then you need a SP or ST 400 from a 64-66 Buick with a Nailhead. You'll need the flexplate and torque converter as well.. You'll also need to call Carmen Faso 716.693.4090 - J&C's Parts 7127 Ward Road North Tonawanda, NY 14120 For the proper bushing for your crank and that tranny. All in all not a bad swap, you can either enlarge the hole on the flexplate or grind down the crank to fit the flexplate, either way works though I'm a fan of working on the flexplate. As for the torque tube, what car is it in, that may help with that decision...
thanks man. its in a 1929 Ford Tudor, I dont really know anything about torque tubes, but ill look around online and see what i can find out.
you could also use a trans adapter www.transmissionadapters.com (I recommend this one) www.nwspeedequipment.com
I also have a similer question. I have a muncie that I want to put behind a nail head. What bell housing and fly wheel do you use for this and is there an adapter for this. I have surched around and havn't found much info.
