1952-59 Ford Merc Fender Spears

I am looking to buy some fender spears for my 54 Customline and ran into Kustom Car Parts who carry them. They have both 53 for 20.00 each and 54 for 30.00 each. Is there a difference in years that will fit my 54? I would hate to buy the 30.00 ones when the 20.00 ones would fit.

The contour is slightly different,52-53 cars also have indentations in the 1/4 panel and 54's do not.

 

Interesting... I have a set I was going to put on my 54... not sure if they are 53's or 54's.

Actually, we are just talking about the 3 side spears that mount on the front of the quarter panel, right behind the door.

 

I went out and looked at mine. They are marked on the inside with a sharpie, 1954 and are 12 1/2" long.

Original 53s are stainless 54s are pot metal. I prefer the 53s myself. They are also the smaller style.
