Welders

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jalopy Kid, Feb 5, 2006.

  1. I am lokking at buying a new welder, My old one works okay but is not very good on heavier metal. Problem is that i dont have 220 in my garage, I have looked at a few 110V welders that say they are good to 1/4", the frame of my hot rod is only 3/16 and the welder i have holds it together but i dont trust it enough to go flying down the highway at 140mph. I have looked at a Lincoln mag pak 10 and a miller matic 135. Does anybody know anything about these welders or have any suggestions as to what will work

the 110 machines i had never seemed to give enough burn
i gave up on them cause there duty cycle is to low for my needs i have owned 4 of them
i really like the lincoln 250 i have now but its gonna require 220
also the miller 175 is a very nice machine

if you can afford it run a 220 line and get a used machine
mine has been in action for over 13 years used daily and never skips a beat

  5. My house was built in the late 30's so it hardly has enough power to run a television, and i plan on selling it in the next year or so, therefore i dont really want to spend the money to upgrade all the wiring
