Hello my name is BrotherBob and I am a project-aholic. My lady thinks I've lost my mind....really. My adopted 85 yr old G-ma said " I really think you have a problem with these ole cars" she was serious. I stopped by the shop and they all mocked me ..... " Look at the love project " " You cant fix that " " I hope you didnt give much for it " " Was it free " " You gotta be kiddin .....you payed for that hunk of ****" My 12 year old son said...." you can fix it ....its awesome" What you have before you is my 1937 Ford Coupe as it came off the trailer. I have always wanted a 30's Ford and now I have one. But, now with all the nay-sayers I'm wondering? Is my judgement jaded ? I got it for a song...a very short song. BTW , Petejoe and Fuelpump are to blame.....ever since they posted those" Love Project" (TM) 37's I've been acting like a heroin addict to find one........its all because of them.
At least it won't take long to strip off the stuff you don't need! I've seen worse starters. I looked at a '40 Ford sedan once that the frame was rusted in two on. It actually broke while the guy moved it into his garage! Anyway, mental health is highly overrated.
SJfast, yeah it aint gonna be a cram a crate motor and go kinda car . But I am going back to have coffee with the ol' guy who sold it to me....he has the original flattie out of it! I gave 360.00 bucks for it ! The ol' guy said " double my money on it ......hahahhahhahha. I said yes sir! I may sleep in it tonight............Ford GOOOOOOOOOD.
Ya see, 85 year old granny rmembers when that POs came out because she was 19 and she probably bought one herself when she was 20 and paid less than you did then for a year old car. To her it's a $5 junk yard heap and that's only if you could drive it home. Congratulations... It's a fine looking heap! Put a 38 standard front end on it if you don't have a '37 grill in that trunk. I like'em betta!
I got one even worse than that, but like yours it's all there so half the war's won. And as far as parts interchange there is a lot of stuff that will swap on early Ford's. I would swap the cable brakes, hydraulics will bolt on. I got hooked on a '37 coupe at my first Coca Cola 600 at Lowe's motor speedway. A few cl***ic stock cars were on display in the gr*** on the back straight. One was a '37 Ford full fenders widened, lowered, fat wide five's, looked like a giant ledgend's car. I believe the tough part is finding a grill, price on the re-pop is not realistic. I was told all the floor panels are available for it. I've had mine about 7 years, only put air in the tires. I stashed it in the back corner of the garage, hoarded, coveted... If you start on yours before Christmas you will be ahead of me
Get some plywood, and that crate motor... and GO! ...just have to write "CAUTION. DEATH ROD. Mentally Unhealthy Driver Conducting Therapy and does not give a ****." on it some where, then all the bases are covered!
