Has anyone ran both on their mill and noticed a difference between the two (especially performance)? Planning on buying some tube style for my 235(cheap) this Friday and was planning on buying Fentons later, but if it's just a name thing, I couldn't care less:rolleyes:
    Opinions or thoughts?

Fentons are cast, aren't they? I'm not sure if that's better or not, but they do look cooler. Fentons and a two-deuce intake on an engine looks like a factory setup to me.

    Okay here's the deal-

    tube style-$100
    fenton-$200

is hundred dollar difference worth it?

    endsville:cool:

Where can you buy them for that price? I am looking for a set for my 51 Fleet. Seems like a very good deal to me.
I would prefer cast over tubing, because it looks good and last forever.

    Generally speaking...

    1) Fenton type headers are cool as hell from a 'vintage' perspective - but they're not going to add all that much HP. I had some of the dyno tests from back in the day, and the fenton (or belond) style headers added maybe 5-6 RWHP.

    2) Cast-iron headers tend to run cooler (less heat to the engine compartment and the interior compartment) - assuming this is an issue. Also - they tend to run quieter. Cast iron has better sound deadening characteristics over steel tube.

    3) Tube type headers (assuming SHORT tubes for a hunnert bux) are going to make *about* the same amount of HP; you'd have to go to long tubes to get more HP. The delineator between short/long is *about* 22" - anything less than a 22" primary tube is a short-tube header, IMO.

    4) Tube-type headers are noisier, hotter, and do tend to burn out over time - unless you buy SS units or get them ceramic-coated on the inside and the outside. Figure about three years or 40K miles for tube header life - whichever comes first.

If it were my $$, the decision would come down to looks vs performance vs durability. If you're going for a vintage look - fenton. If you're going for overall durability/driveability - fenton. If it's max HP - equal length tube type headers are the way to go - but a good set will cost MORE than the fentons!

remember you need the heat-riser too, its extra.
