The window winders in my Victoria are pretty rough and the driver side unwinds by itself. For one of my other cars I had gotten a kit with a new center pin and tension spring. Does anyone sell a similar kit for 56 vintage. All that I have found are for trucks and other year Fords.
Dennis Carpenter probably has what you need. http://dennis-carpenter.com/window-crank-shaft-repair-kit/p/B6C-8123205-S/ http://dennis-carpenter.com/window-regulator-roller/p/BA-7023240-A/ A lot of other parts are listed. HRP
Post a picture of your regulator. I see them used on evilBay all the time and they may fit a spread of years.
Mine were rusted solid so I replaced them with power units from Nu-relics. Not cheap but I couldn't find new springs for the regulators anywhere. These were a direct bolt in. http://www.shop.nu-relics.com/1956-Ford_c105.htm
a little paint remover, degreaser, and give 'em a citric acid bath. mine freed up great grease up and install, no rebuild!
Nope, the '59 is different. I had an extra with my Ford, that went into the citric acid bath for a few days, came out pretty clean. And those springs are easy to find. C & G has them for sure.
Power windows would be nice especially in a hardtop. I've got a 62 Pontiac 4 door hardtop and I always wish I could put all of the windows down at once. It takes a longer arm than mine to reach accross the car. I think I will drill out the rivets and determine what the real issue is for the moment. Thanks for the ideas.
watch your fingers if you drill them out.as once the gear moves from rack the spring will want to unload.do yourself a favor and remove the spring first.
As suggested, I pulled the spring out and found if you wind it one way it removes the tension and I still have all of my fingers, thanks. It appears that this one may just need cleaning and lubrication. Putting the window and sliders back together will be fun. Fortunately the other door is still ***embled for reference. There are many little screws and adjustments. Last fall I took a friend for a ride in the car with the windows down. The hardtop p***enger door closely nciely, but he slammed the door. Later when I rolled the window up the gl*** was cracked as I suspected. Lesson learned is give a door closing lesson in advance of taking on p***engers. LOL I bought replacement gl*** from Tee-bird products near reading PA. The prices were good and they had it in stock. It gave me an excuse to take my wife to the NHRA nationals at Maplegrove which is relartively close by.
lithium gums up or runs out(breaks down too fast for me) - used regular bearing grease on mine for durability/longevity
I went looking for some new division bar type fuzzy strip. Most gl*** shops had seen regular channel, but not the stepped channel. I couldn't find it on the internet either. So I will glue some cloth in the track. Actually it looks like I probably did that some years ago. The lower window channel is a little shaky. I think I worked it over and brazed it when I redid the car around 1994. Tomorrow I get to try and ***embly the rubber channel liner, gl*** & channel. I'm not sure if it is typically glued to the gl*** and then trimmed after the fact, or to put on with rubber lubricant. The winder clean and rebuild went well. Getting the frame off the gl*** sprung it a bit, so I'll try and get it back to 90 degrees again before I fit it to the gl***.
I'd look at what these guys have. they have the bottom lift channel and the division bar. http://www.steelerubber.com/search?...irlane-club-victoria&style=2-door-hardtop&p=2
