Has anyone tried to use the Lokar s-10 shifter adapter (msl610) on the eariler s-10 transmissions? (1988 - 1992) Or has anyone tried any different adapters ( homemade) ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
"Typical" would probably be a Hurst handle. 3/8 id holes with 7/8 spacing. http://www.hurst-shifters.com/wp-content/uploads/StickDiagram.pdf
Was wondering if something like that would work and looks like it works good to me. Thanks for the help.
Where did you get the stick? Like the model A. Mines going in a 36 Chevy Sedan Delivery. Got a model A only it's got a muncie in it.
Not a great picture but this is a Hurst style adapter I bought on ebay as Hurst no longer sells them. I have actually purchase three of them for different cars. They bolt right on the T-5 and work great, I did have to modify the lo-car shift handle as the threaded blot holes in the adapter are larger diameter than the shifter bar, just opened the holes up in the handle and milled it a bit so the hex cap bolts would set inside the bar properly. Nice result I think.
Hey Pat, I like the traditional look of the e=brake handle next to the shifter handle and I couldn't find anything like it available so I built it. I ran out and took a few photos for you, the bracket is painted to match the trans so may be hard to discern but it hangs from 2 of the rear bolts on the case. I made it from simple angle so the offset would allow for easy removal even with the body on you can see to top bolt I used on the trans from this angle and here you can see the lower bolt I used. I built a cardboard template of the mounting flange, transferred it to steel and then welded the angle piece to it. I bit of grinding and paint and it looks right at home and it is very stable. I used the long e brake handle so it would compliment the long double s bend shifter bar. A bit overkill maybe on the material but I don't like things breaking.
Go on ebay and buy a $40.00 Mustang short throw shifter w/shift stops. Over shifting kills the shift forks in a S-10 T-5. You have to shorten and re-drill the mounting plate, as Mustangs are longer than S-10's. The shift lever is already machined flat and has two mounting holes in it.
