  3. 216's and 235/261's have a different intake port diameter. It'll bolt up, but it's not the same.

You'll have to run headers-won't bolt to stock exh. manifold ... also, every Offy intake I've ever seen has to be ground for clearance when using Fenton headers ...

    I recently installed a 54 p***enger car 235 in place of the origonal 216 in a 51 2 ton truck & the stock 216 intake/exhaust was a direct bolt on to the 235.

A 235 is a 235 is a 235 unless YOUR 235 is really a 230 since it's a '62. '62 was the first year for the new series engines with 7 mains but my MoToRs Manual indicates that 235s still existed in '62. There is no interchangeability between the 216/265/261 series and the 230/250/292 series.

I would have a machine shop bore the alignment ring size out to 235 diameter. The rings keep the manifold from sliding down, and it will do that without them. Another method of keeping the manifold in place is to get everything lined up and drill at least two holes through the manifold and into the side of the cylinder head. Remove the manifold and drive an appropriate size dowel pin into the hole in the head, and drill the hole in the manifold one drill size larger so it will slip over the pin when bolted to the head.

    Hi,Orcas,
Lots of the '41 up big trucks had 235 engines that look identical to the 216,at least until '49 - '50 up 235 trucks have the short side plate if I remember right.
