    Hey guys,

So I was wondering how do I adjust my speedometer gauge? When it's in park it shows that I'm at 10mph.

My question is do I need to replace something or can this be adjusted behind the gauge itself? If so how do I do it?

    Thanks,
    George

There is no adjustment that is not inside the gauge. Doe's it only show that in park or doe's it do that any time you are stopped?

Your gauge needs to be serviced and lubed.

Any chance this can be done by me? I don't know of any shops around here that work on stuff this old.

You can take it out and add some lube to the shaft that the speedo turns, but I don't think that will help.

  11. You will find there is probably a small bit of crud which is stopping the needle from returning to zero. They are a magnetic drag cup, with a bit of pateince you should be able to get it working. Get yourself an old speedo from the wreckers, take it apart and have a look and see how they work. Patience, a steady hand and a magnifying gl*** are your best friends when repairing these.

Your speedometer could have a few issues. It could be something as simple as the pointer hitting against a piece of debris. More than likely it needs to be serviced: dis***embled, cleaned, adjusted, lubricated and calibrated back to spec. If you are going through the trouble of removing the speedometer, I recommend having it gone through.
