    I just have to add this one;
"You're gonna miss me..." - We sure will, B.B., we sure will.

Took my son to see him a "few" years ago. At the time, my kid was just starting to get good on the guitar. After the show, he said he was a little disappointed in how little BB played, & thought his stories were too long. Fast forward to today. The kid is a damn good blues guitarist & now he understands that "space" in your music, is more powerful than jamming as many notes in as you can. BB was, no, IS the king of using space to create music. He will be missed in this house. RIP

B.B. King, Blues personified. Who didn't love him?
He may not have invented the blues, but he epitomized it.
Definitely a big hole left in the music world today. R.I.P.

I'm a blues fan and go to sleep every night with the Blues Channel on TV (Audio Only) yet when the wife and I went to see B.B., I made the same comments. Lazy playin'. Too long between licks. And I get the Blues.

I met BB at a San Jose concert in 1966, or thereabouts. I had a blues band for a few years...
B.B. was very personable, warm and sincere. I remember first hearing his stuff in 1953, the famous Oakland, CA D.J. Don Barksdale referred to him as "B.B. the Blues Boy King".
Sometime around 1964 the "Blues Boy" moniker was dropped, but we all knew who B.B. was...The man needed no introduction.
Rest now, B.B. You must be tired.

There was a special, B.B. and his guest...Bobby Blue Bland! Together, they recapped earlier 'blues dates' they held, usually a 'surprise' guest appearance, one of them hosting. "Thrill is gone", Stormy Monday"...they'd improvise, it was great.
I saw some footage on U-Tube recently. The greats are fading away...

  11. Wow, that comment got to me........It's not often when I read the internet that something actually makes me gasp out loud, but when I got up this morning and saw the news of Mr.
King's p***ing, that is exactly what happened.

I grew up listening to B.B. King. My Dad and I were always out driving around on Saturdays, running errands and what not. Dad always had an 8-track player in his truck in those days, and he had an impressive collection of tapes. Most of them I've never seen on 8-track except for the ones he had. Everything from doo-wop, to Spanish music to the blues to rock 'n' roll. B.B. King, Bo Diddley and Al Hurricane were always my favorites. I'll always remember the B.B. King 8-track since it had a hot pink case! Lots of memories.

Vaya con Dios, Mr. King. You will be missed..........E

It was a real bummer when I heard last night that he died. I saw him a few years back - it was a great concert. Last year (I believe it was) I got to see Buddy Guy , who is another great blues guy. He was rockin' the joint like a dude half his age, even though it was his 77th birthday (or was it 78?) that night. We rock "bluesville" a lot of the time at our shop each day (xm). Gotta love the blues ! As long as his music is still coming out the speakers , he'll never truly be gone ... RIP B.B. King :(

Exactly right, man! It's not just about the notes, it's about the spaces too. Understated is good, in hot rods and blues. Let it breathe!

...that is, of course, unless you're in a head cuttin' contest with the devil, then let the notes fly! Ol' Scratch don't care about understated.

We saw BB King play at the Kodak theatre in LA about 7 or so years ago. great show.
As an aside we were in New Orleans for the Jazz Fest a couple of weeks ago and Jerry Lee Lewis played on the main stage for an hour. 81 and still sounds great, for me it was one of the highlights of the Jazz Fest.

Ah, so sorry to hear of his p***ing, he was not only a great musician, but a really nice guy too. Maybe BB can finally get some rest. There was a Public Radio segment recently about his ill health and a fight between his family and his manager (the manager has Power of Attorney and basically kept BB out on the road performing as a money maker, even though he was in his 90's). They said BB was the sole support for all his extended family and was forced to tour continually, even though he was diabetic and very ill. :(

Hope he gets his reward in Heaven, he deserves it. RIP, BB......you were one person I would have loved to have a beer with.

On the radio they were saying he was 91 or so. Maybe, like a lot of older people, there was some question about his actual age.

I had the pleasure of spending a day with B.B. King and his band. I was the ***istant manager at Cowtown Ballroom in Kansas City in 1972. We booked him as part of a series of recorded shows syndicated for fm radio stations. I met them at the airport. I had arranged for a Lincoln Continental and a p***enger van to transport them. B.B. wanted to drive to a series of radio interviews that were arranged. I was his co-pilot. He was a great guy to hang out with. What an experience. R.I.P.

  27. Truly there is only one " King "

And he left the building on May 14th to play an even bigger venue in Heaven.

Eric Clapton summed it up nicely in his short video tribute.

God Bless you Mr. King .....
