Been a while since a posted last. I have a question. How do I made up the front section of the rear quarter panel on my 54? Where does the bottom connect or have to be welded to?

I would say the same place the old one is mounted to unless you dont have that either.
inner rocker, door jamb post (or a inch or so back from it)and lap or butt weld to good rear section of quarter???
Im not a pro but I could probably make a pretty good guess by looking.

    @wbwr32

How do I mate up the front section of the rear quarter panel on my 54? Where does the bottom connect or have to be welded to?

The photos are explaining the situation I'm encountering.

The photos are pretty clear of what I'm encountering.

I've had 4 1949 Chevys, a 51 and a 53 and I have no idea what part of the car we are looking at.

@ratfink. I'm trying to mate up the front section of the rear quarter panel on my 54 Chevy. I have no where to weld to on the underside. Am I missing something? I have a gap between the outer panel and the rocker. Should it mate up to the rocker?

There is a gap between the rocker and the patch panel. They don't connect it meet.

looks like you replaced the inner rockers as well as the quarter. either the rocker does not go far enough down or the quarter was put on too high. the inner rocker is supposed to butt weld to the lower flanges on the quarter.

edit: I see the new picture, the rockers need to go down further to match where the quarter is

That's interesting. Seems that the rockers are too short? Damn. What now?

Looks like a pretty good size gap between the fabbed floor and the floor brace that could be causing the inner rocker to sit too high, also looks like the fabbed panel at the bottom is either too short or the quarter patch section is sitting too low, however the quarter section looks o.k. in the outer picture of it.
**on second glance of my pic, it looks like the lower circled part is just forward not up**
Just looks like to me its gonna take some adjusting and trial and error 20150518_170153_zpstykme6ya.jpg

Yeah. The car was really rusted. I started fitting pieces together. The rockers outer and inner eliminated the gap up by the door. Yeah I had to make a floor board and that kennel. The panel was hanging low. When it's snugged up it lines up with the patch panel I made. I may have to trim it down slightly.

    Thanks for the reply

Depending on what level of perfection you are going for, undercoating will help hide a lot of imperfections on the underside if you can just get er welded up where its solid

Is the other side the same? Did you make the inner rocker or buy it?

I purchased it. @henry29. The other side has to be worked on as of yet. That side is worse off. But the rocker is installed.

@lowbudget Yeah I figured I would cover up some of the blemishes on the underside with undercoating.
