    Hi folks,
Any Nailhead guys out there, I need some advice. Would you use sealer on a metal intake manifold gasket? I'm putting an Eelco 3x2 (aluminium) on a '65 425 Nailhead.

To seal, or not to seal, that is the question.

When they were new all the mechanics had was Permatex #2 or K&W Coppercoat, surfaces were cleaned and a light coat applied before dropping on the manifold. Today I would use a light coat of black RTV around the water p***ages and torque it down. Either way, let it cure overnight.

Yes I would. Mr. Murphy likes to show up unannounced.

  4. Ultra black silicone is what I switched to over a decade ago. I found most the other stuff would eventually allow oil to p***. I use it around every opening. I don't trust embossed gskts or gskts with a built in bead of silicone on 50 yr old surfaces.

I asked Russ Martin this same question a few years ago, this was his answer...
