well guys im back again. been very busy got my tig welding certification steel and stainless. i started a car upholstery cl***. for the next 1.5 years im gonna learn the trade. had to invest pretty heavily. didnt expect that but it wil be worth it in the end. loving the the work im busy with Porsche seat and some other projects i git 3 guys a week wanting upholstery work done. so yeah it wil be my next fulltime gig from with in my company. when the seats are ready ill show some pics. anyway. im looking for a rebuild kit for my 365 Cadillac engine and i got some adresses but i could use some advice on wich is best. it wil remain standard it had 10 to 1 compression. i got some adresses but would love some advice from people who rebuild the 365 and what the main concerns where.
Vince, it's evident how much you love Miss Daphne, and you are caring for her in excellent fashion. Good luck with the upholstery cl***, it's a valuable skill to learn and will be quite useful. I hope to see Daphne running and driving again very soon!
thanks 55caddy62 she wil be driving this summer. im looking for a good rebuilt kit im gonna order one next week ive been looking around. and the upholstery cl***es are going great. im doing a couple of Porsche seats and they are looking great also some motorcycle seats. after this im gonna do some cl***ic seats for 50s and 60s cars got a few ideas.
so i got the stuff i wanted. add to cart. confirm then we got shipping 740 dollar and then i stopped for some reason i mean come on thats disturbing. so i contacting them and then all of a sudden the shipping costs where different stil to much and the more i said and made some good points the price kpt going down why would i want to buy parts from that place they try to screw you over from the start. so know im gonna find a good shipping company to get the parts ship here.
wel i orderd my parts. paid to much but wel driving this summer windows down. fresh engine disc brakes. music thru my speaker Sunshine thru my shades arm out the window that v8 purring life wil be good. and the money wil be worth it. so 2 weeks and my parts get in and i can start building.
had allot of stuff come between me and the car last few weeks. yesterday i finished my last upholstery work for now a bench seat 50s style tuck and roll job on a 80s pick up bench seat ill add a pic. now i can go on with the caddy. gonna clean the ch***is en firewall paint it and then the building begins
Thanks 55Caddy62 its my new job since the american car market has gotton a big kick in the face in this country. damn goverment is really going crazy with new laws so i had to expand my business. and with upholstery i can go allot of ways. american cars european cars motorcycles. boats. furniture. but my main focus wil be american cars and european oldtimers. and after posting this pic on social media the work comes running in like crazy. so its al good. i love the fact that good work and quality atracts people. so i think i dont need to do any advertising if i just show up at car shows and meeting with some beautifull upholstery work. and my Cadillac wil also be my business card on those shows after i do the interior of her this winter.
black and shiny finnaly ready to start building. first the brakes. my new discbrakes in the front a modern booster and get the adjusted and ready for use. then the engine brackets and fenders grill and hood and of we can go again.
progress. new booster and the discs are on there now the calipers and new braklines. but im gonna make a new design as both brake hoses come out from the front and one brake drum had a hose towards the back.
the bench seat sold. and invested the cash in some new shoes for my baby. some new whitewalls. i gave the heads a valve job the old fashion way allot of work but worth it they seal perfectly again. im getting the pistons put on rods. i disambled the rocker arm setup cleaned everything and put back togethere oiled and ready to go. i rebuild the oil pump. removed old and put in new camshaft bearings and fit the camshaft. i cleaned and polished the crankshaft. when the pistons and rods get in i can start building the engine.
been very busy but not with the car sadly. ive been building a sewing area in my shop. put up some walls a bit of paint and a floor. and moved in there quickly had a few customers waithing. build a custom seat for a custom pick up. i started with a nasty brown bench seat. i hand made the diamond pleat panels with gun metal grey s***ching happy customer is good advertising already got the next job so thats good. i ruined some new parts on the engine purely stupidity but ill order some new once and not make the same mistake twice. this winter ill build the engine and do the interior of the car and ill be driving next year.
wel guys been busy with all things and evrything but not the car. but the summer is coming i need to drive it this year. so quick solution im buying a running and driving 390 engine. the seller has it in his cad and wants to go to ls5 or something new like that. so i get to drive and hear the engine before purchase and thats priceless a engine on a pallet doesnt say anything. gonna cost a grand but it wil be plug and play mate to my gearbox and hang it in build everything up and finnal move her ***y *** again. and the last months of winter ill do the interior to show standard and hit the shows meets and conventions and advertise my upholstery business and really get it going and have a freaking great year.
ok guys i have a story to tell im not proud of it but kinda feel good about it. my 365 engine is gonna need some new parts and my automatic needs a rebuild wich is 1500 bucks overhere so the engine i wil build in time and safe some money for the trans rebuild. now come the bad yet smart parts. i do have a 1985 caprice he****. with new laws overhere they dont do any money. girls wont drive it and it has a 383 stroker engine so you can already see this one coming. im pulling the driveline from the station and putting it in my 58. here are the reasons. i have it wont cost me much just some add ons and maintenence. they are cheap in parts and you can buyparts everywhere and ill cruise europe this summer so yeah handy. they are reliable. if the engine or trans breaks they are a dime a dozen i can buy another one and hang it in there and drive again for cheap. so yeah she is getting the 383 gonna buy a high torq starter. gonna buy aluminium finned valve covers and airfilter. paint the engine blue. a new alu radiator. new fluids. electronic ignition. new wires and plugs. and hopefully running in a few weeks then ill start on the interior and freaking drive this summer. just so you know this wasnt the plan i was planning on building the engine but some parts got damaged to much work en money for now. the i went to see a 390 engine running in a car and wel it was a pig. it was soaked there was a knock and worn valves and the guy asked 1000 bucks so yeah that money wil partially go into the 383 and ill be good to go. thats it ill make some pics for you guy during the build, this pic is the engine ill be building into the cad
ok finished the last upholstery job for now and im gonna clean up the shop get every thing ready for the transplant and get my car on the road again pretty exciting time for me. the seats got picked up and payed for so some cash for the build Always nice. and when she is driving ill start the interior. here are some pics of the seat i made
my friend's 58 ragtop, all rebuilt original except for Vintage A/C & big wheels, in interior shop now should be done next week
it seems to be fitting alright but the motormount locations on the engine blocks seem to differ pretty badly. so im making some motormounts myself. use the Original motormounts on the ch***is and make a plate on the sbc forwards towards the Original motormounts. after that a transmision bracket on the Original mounting holes of the Cadillac x frame. if its all fitted and done ill pull out the driveline and paint it get some goodies on there and give it some new parts and freshen it up put it in and build it up again
I'm likin' the CLR treatment. Still got tons of character, but the blue is prettier than orange and brown. I LOVE your car by the way, you got lucky.
i like the rough exterior. i dont like shiny and clean. if people lean on her and the have rust spots on there clothes just great dont lean on my car and wel she is as she is ill leave it like this i can Always change it again. and im afraid if i clean her up all the little dents and damages come to light she isnt perfect but as she is now she is to me and ill love her all the same. wel thats was pretty dramatic hahaha but well thats the way it is. cant wait to have the engine bolted in so i can start cleaning the engine put it in for the last time and build the entire car up. if the mounts are finished it wil go fast from there. and when she is running and driving ill start on the interior baby blue with white panels. and probably finished in a thin blue piping but im not a fan. i prefer the double s***ch its a bit more modern and clean but we wil see in the end how ill upholster the 58
well the motormouts have been made and the ****** mount is done she was all bolted up and the took it out for cleaning then painted it metalic blue and bought some aluminium valvecover with no brands or anything on it clean and beautifull. bought electronic ignition i would prefer Mallory and a small distributer but dont have that extra money so ill stick with this one for now. ne wires and sparkplugs and oilfilter. also have a high torque starter. now im building everything on it. sadly the Original exhaust manifolds didnt fit with the engine mounts so i asked around got a set of ramhorn manifolds but they hit the steeringbox. then i bought a set of 1985 camaro manifolds and the cleared everything but the pasangerside manifold had a different bolt pattern wel the last hole. so for now il have one camaro and one ramhorn manifold on it. gonna clean them paint them with heat resistant and put them on so i can start making the exhaust fit. i put in the distributer. i have to find a steering pump bracket cause the Original wont fit. im cleaning and painting the dynamo brackets. the holley that was on it goes on again for now. it works its free and good enough for now. i prefer a carter. then illbuild everything up the fenders and the bumper hood and radiator mount and radiator. im gonna buy a cheap aluminium radiator cause the Cadillac is a strange model its like the oposit from a Chevy one so the waterpump exit is on the wrong side for the Cadillac one but that wont be a problem. the fitment of the fan wil be a geusse for now but if it wont work ill go electric for now and leave the fan but i dont like it. electric fans can break a metal fan is bulletproof and you wil know when it breaks thats for sure so yeah thats the update for now seeya later guys
had to move the car from one side of the shop to the other side she was in a quiet lane but i needed to work on it weld the exhaust customize the Original shift lever of the donor car to fit the Cadillac so i can shift again. i did the brakelines caddydaddy made some big mistakes on there disc brake conversion kit. so had customize somethings but hey thats hotrodding ofcourse you make it work. my driveshaft is being made. the Original Cadillac wil made to fit the th700r4 ****** ill get it back Wednesday. i made the steeringpump fit bought a rebuild one but the bracket didnt fit with the Cadillac ch***is but its on and done. gonna have to get a steeringpump hose made the high pressure one. tommorow im gonna pick up a standard Chevy radiator at a friends house should fit the Cadillac just has the lower exit on the other side. if it leaks or something ill buy an aluminium one its only 280 bucks so we wil see. then build up the front again fenders grill hood get the wiring done from generater to dynamo wiring. ad a switch for the electronic distributer. but hope to be driving next week there,s a big show called Kustom Kulture wil be cool of i can drive there
