Finished the floor under the seats and bolted the bombers into place. Also made and welded in seat belt anchors.
    No pictures this time.
A funny thing happened, bolting the seats in and then sitting in the drivers seat was like getting a couple extra inches of leg room. :)
I guess the seat was not where it was supposed to be while I was setting it all up. A bonus.
The seating position is nice and I sit down in the car enough that the top edge of the body behind the door is at my armpit level.
    Great for a T I think.

Sounds good, pretty soon you will be prepping for making it shiny.

All very positive news. Glad to see the great progress.
The side profile photo looks excellent.
I'm sure, after mounting the seat, and sitting in it, you had a smile from ear to ear.

  4. Really enjoying this thread, the Y-Block is a really great choice.

  5. I can't wait to see the finished product Larry, it will be stunning no doubt!

  6. I bet you were making noises while sitting in there:D:cool:JW

Shhh don't tell :D I thought of getting out the video Tim made for me of the run in when he built my Y block and just sitting there listening to it run :D

  8. I would say you not the first to sit in their car and make engine noises and you certainly won't be the last. Hell I caught myself making funny noises while sitting on the pondering stool beside my Roadster while out in the garage. So all is normal here, mate...:rolleyes:o_O:)

Here's what I would rather listen to instead of making noises :D

The very healthy engine built by Tim McMaster that is waiting to go into the RPU.

I needed to find a location for the battery.
I didn't want to put it in the small section of bed left after the gas tank was mounted, and I could not put it under the seats or floor, just no room
I picked a small Deka battery, an AGM battery identical in size to the Braille 3121, possibly made in the same factory as the Braille.
The Deka will be plenty strong for the RPU. It also is relatively small and can be mounted lying on its side.
I have a small space on the side of the rear frame kick up behind the side panel I had fabricated that proved to be a perfect location for the battery.
I fabricated a battery "box" and mounted it to the side of the frame kick up behind the panel.
It fits nicely, is tucked up out of harms way and hidden fairly well.
    Larry.

I think it's going to be great.

  15. Will you have a master off/on switch to isolate the battery in a convenient place so that you can isolate the power when the car is parked away for winter etc. ? I have a battery maintenance charger that I use on the T battery but it is a hassle in the fact that I have to remove the seat base to get to the battery.

I think I will put one somewhere it will be easy to get to. I also plan to wire a plug in lead directly to the battery in a convenient place for a battery tender.

  17. I put an isolator switch on the ground lead and have an accessory socket in my seat riser for dash cam/GPS that a charger can be plugged into. JW

I'm pumped :D. I posted this as a separate thread but thought I should post it here too. :)
I was cleaning the garage today and getting ready to have Rod Tops do the top for the RPU.
I rolled it out into the daylight for a photo shoot for the first time ever since I started building it.
Next will come disassembly for finishing.

Its a very nice truck! I like the proportions.

  23. Man, when I started reading and glanced at the picture, I was hoping you'd say you were driving around the block for the first time! I then noticed "a few" things missing off the Y-block...hopefully soon! Looking good, Larry!

Thanks guys. Yes, that's the mock-up block and it will stay there for now. Once the top is done and I blow her apart for finishing the new engine and tri-power will finally sit in it's proper place.
But it is getting closer :)

  27. Here's some incentive: Shot by master lens-man Tom Davison at yesterday's So-Cal Open House leading up to the LARS. Y-blocks rock!
