I'm getting ready to chop my '31 A roadsters windshield frame, so it the right height to work with the chopped '32 upper stanchions I picked up. Any words of advise for I make my first cut?

  2. Do lots of measuring before you cut, its pretty straight forward. I also whipped up a miter for the correct angle for the top of the frame then cut it with a hack saw. After that just redrilled the mounting holes to hold the top of the frame back on. No welding needed also my frame was chromed.

One obstical I'm trying to get around is I need a 2" chop out of three frame, but the top stanchion mounting hole is centered 2" from the top (right where my cut should be. Now I trying to see if I can cut 2" from the center and reuse that mounting hole? It looks like I will need to remove a section from the top rail as well, to narrow the frame?

  4. What you're thinking of doing seems like it would work, I should have added what I mentioned only would work for 2-1/2" or more. I cut my windshield frame 3" and didn't have to narrow the frame up at all. It doesn't line up perfect but it is good enough for me...
