You need to design a plan and try to stick to it!!There are not many repopped parts, especially exterior sheetmetal.64 and 65 Falcons of the same body and trim style share a lot of pieces!65-66 Mustang shares a lot of suspension pieces, engines and transmissions from many of the smaller FoMoCo products interchange. ROY.

  6. Some Comet parts interchange too.

  7. LOL just make it up as you go. That's how the rest of us got it figured out. if you get lost ask, someone will know the answer.

Thanks for the advice i think ima start planning and then get back to work on the car

  9. Probably the first thing you want to do before anything else is decide what direction you want to go with it. Those bodies made good street brawlers but they also got used for customs as well as g***ers and altered wheel base cars.

So try and get some idea where you want to end up then start your design and parts chasing process. They make a real good small block car by the way. You can make room for a big motor and they also make good transportation with the 6 but they make real good small block cars.

I think you should go this way, but hey, It's your car.:D 05262015.jpg

  11. That's the way I'd build it only with a 235 and red wheels so it would be traditional.

I had a '65 Falcon some years back, it was a nice and clean little car. There are tons of parts around for them and also parts cars as you found out.

Looks fairly solid. Is it a V-8 car? How's the interior? Did it come with all the stainless trim?

Its a complete car everything is there. Its a 6cyl with the 170 in it i think its all original the pics i posted i took after i dis***embled the car a little bit. The interior got destroyed by a fire that happened inside the car with the previous owner that was put out before it did any real damage to the car.

  16. I think that the V-8 cars had 5 lug wheels which would be the first thing I would work on changing even if I left it a 6 cylinder car.

I have owned a falcon or two and never owned one that I kept that had 4 lug wheels at least not after I had a chance to change them over. ;)

need some advice? just get it running as it and use it to learn about basic mechanical work.
It seems you have two now? In La I would recommend the I6, we are going nowhere fast here. Just get it running and drving and dont get stuck getting old with a project. Join this forum http://www.tffn.net/ and get it going.

take pics of all the parts you take apart so you know how to get them back together, get the shop manual for the car.

build the basic driver, then have fun customizing.

for the lug conversion, just do new brakes and mastercylinder while you are at it.

    find a ford 8" with 5 lug.
make sure to get the steel wheel from the donor car too.

Your 64 is a striking image of my Dad's 64 when he sold it in the mid 80's here in San Diego!! When I first saw your pics, I thought it might be his old car. His 64 was a v8, auto though. It was originally red w red interior, then painted maize gold. He repainted it red. My Brother drove it in High School. He added leaf spring shackles vinyl sprayed the interior black after installing GTO (?) buckets and a business coupe style rear seat area. He had a cheap Earl Scheib white paint job done (they masked off the stainless trim). The car developed mechanical issues and was parked for years and when my Dad finally sold it (in the early 90's?) most of the trim had been removed so it looked just like yours; white with red paint showing through where the trim is. I'd be curious to know if your car's paint jobs werered/gold/red/white?

Well it's been over a year and I'm back. I went to school so I had to completely stop all work on the car. Im getting back into it. Starting today. The only bad news is that all the picture's I took of the parts when I took them off to know how to put everything back together got deleted off my phone. But oh well I'm mad my plan of what I'm going to be doing to the car. I'm planning on putting in a 5.0 drive train. I want to install an afermarket suspension but that's out of my budget right now. Just last week I bought abother falcon. It's a 65 4dr car but I'm using it for the floor pan and some of the parts that i will change onto both my 64s. The engine is running so I will probably swap that in for now until I'm ready to do the 5.0 swap.

Why? My 110mph street blaster is 4-lug.

Aftermarket suspension is a waste of money. New factory stuff, with a few new bits, anti-sway-bar, Shelby drop, etc. will make it a fine street performer, and even a competent road-racer.

  24. I'll agree. I'd add a strut tower brace and a bolt-in lower crossmember to really stiffen up the front end, and if you want to go whole hog, buy a set of Global West's bolt-on tube upper control arms. These change the camber curve for better cornering and are basically a further refinement of the 'Shelby Drop' without the drawbacks. Also convert to the '65-66 Mustang upper shock mount bracket; this will give you a wider choice of performance shocks.

  25. LOL easier to buy decent 5 lug wheels used. ;)

If I had a line on an old set of mini lights and was building a winder I would stay 4 lugs fur sures.

You're kind of in the place I was when I first bought my '63 Fairlane and now I've driven it on a 1,000 mi round trip. My advice is just to get it running [carb, steering, brakes (which I learned the hard way)] the way it is now and drive it and enjoy it while you plan the next steps. If you're gunna go the 5.0 roller route, I'd just find a low milage engine and stand and do some bolt-ons and drop it in.

  29. Yea but I like wheels on old cars to be old wheels. its a quirk.:oops:

its the same with Ansen Sprints, I like the old ones even though the new Americans are pretty much the same. ;)

Hey Gimp (@gimpyshotrods )check your PMs wanna bounce a question off ya.
