I have had another FlowKooler water pump go bad and I am replacing it with a different brand. My question is does the plate that they pop rivet to the impeller really improve anything? Should I attach it to the new pump?

Yes it does something, and if you have the ability to swap do so..Stock type impellers tend to cavitate some so the plate helps to direct water flow so it doesn't re circulate around the impeller blades, hair more efficient..Be sure you have clearence..

The plate is the only difference between a Flowcooler and the others. I'd put the plate on your new pump.

Never used anything but the factory pump for the engine. No risers, no gimmicks, just factory water pumps. Never had an over heating problem!
