I'm building a 29 Ford Tudor sedan and putting a straight axle dropped front end kit under it. Just want to know if anyone has ever had a bad experience with any kits or suppliers. I've been buying my parts from the norm like JW Rod Garage, Moon, SoCal, Speedway, even CPP. I've seen the new companies and one is Johnny Law Motors. Looking at getting the Super Dluxe Hairpin Axle kit from them. Looks like a pretty good price. Just want to know if anyone has bought one or one similar and if they're happy with it. Otherwise probably will go with Pete and Jakes. I like to support ALL the companies that contribute to hot rod and custom building so I try to buy something from everyone. Really want to keep all my parts MADE IN USA though 100% if possible. Any feedback is greatly appreciated
I got some cloth spark plug wires from johnny law, they're okay quality, not the best. They had a made in China sticker on em. For something big like suspension id feel more comfortable going with a more reputable brand personally. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
When I bought from them, they rocked me on the shipping. Never again! Only reason I still went ahead with it was I had a 50% off certificate from a show. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I have had no issues with any thing I have bought at Johnny Law Motors. I got a buddy who bought some control arms and the welds looked rough but it is still a solid arm. I don't know if everything they make is China but hey if your like me and your on a budget then a good deal is hard to pass sometimes. Personally I agree the quality is not the best but when you want the best then you have to pay more usually.
Suspension parts are NOT the parts to bargain shop! How the vehicle rides, depends on the suspension. Buy the best you can!
This is a nice sentiment but might I suggest you buy a package (the entire front or rear suspension, for instance) from a reputable company. A lot easier to make it all work together.
There are several guys on here who can drop an original forged axle, most preferred way to go. Consider an Alliance membership and save some money through one of the Alliance vendors such as RJays who makes some of their own components and is also a dealer for Pete & Jakes.
