    Roo,
I'm not always right (!), but I am on this one... notice that the Beebe and Mulligan names are taped over. Leland bought the car from Tim Beebe, ran it with his late hemi briefly, then, as you note, sold it to Jim Read in Australia....here is more from Don Ewald's site:

"Leland Kolb in the 1968 Beebe & Mulligan car. Leland bought the car from Tim Beebe then sold it down under. When he delivered it he made some laps to get it dialed in. Note how high his head is in the cage. The car was built for John who was about 5' 6" - Leland is about 6' 4"!"

and a picture from the caption with Leland driving it before delivering it:

Picture wouldn't post on earlier (damn work computer)...here is the picture, and another from Ewald's site:

    Bakersfield-150dpi-40.jpg

Leland Kolb in the ex-Beebe Bros & Sixt/Beebe and Mulligan car. Body is off, Kolb's 426 is in

You can check out both by searching for "Leland Kolb" on Don's site

That's Bob Downey driving for Kolb. Early 1969 just before it was shipped down under.

Sorry.., in the shot from Lions, it's Bob Downey. The other pics, where the head is way out of the cage, it would be Kolb. :)

I didn't think it was Leland driving, wasn't sure who...but as Don said, the car was built for Mulligan so almost anyone else would have had a hard time getting under the rollbar....(Bob Downey started out running a fuel flathead...I raced him in my avatar Ardun, we were both running 100%, and, I am embarrassed to say, Bob's flathead beat my overhead! We both oiled our goggles and neither knew who won....Fortunately Bob later went to an Olds in that car so we didn't have to be humiliated again....later he went on to drive top fuel carS)

Hashim, Hylton, and Crossley, from Bakersfield, belly tank body, the protrusion covers the blower ducting. This was one of several bodies this car ran...

Anyone know anything about the wheel on the rear of the Nova? It looks familiar to me , but not as a drag race piece.

  10. I've never seen this version of Wes Jerde's car from Kansas City. Most of the shots I've seen of it shows aluminum slots. I wonder if these are Kelsey-Hayes since they made all kinds of interesting wheels back in the day (especially Dick Harrell's cars). After Dick moved from his south KC shop (which originally was a Ford dealership!), Jerde took over that space and started building custom vans. Wes Jerde's Van World.

I have seen that picture of the Lark here before. In fact I have seen that Lark before. Lots of times. Tube front axle. Pontiac rear. Algon injected 354 with a Winfield cam I got from Winfield himself. Packard transmission. Jim Reid and Dave Hurbst owned the car I owned the engine/trans. Fremont around '68 I think.

The wheels on Wes Jerde's car are Welds. We always worked on the car at Wes's shop when we were in the area and stayed at his home. There was never a dull moment.

I was not disputing the fact that this was the Beebe and Mulligan car that Kolb purchased but stating that the car that Dave had Foster re-pop was the second Fighting Irish car, a Woody rather than this one.
