My quarters are ALMOST junk... ***us seen them and can attest first hand.

For the guys over at FORD BARN... This A was going to be crushed and I saved it... just think about it. Most hot rodders are doing more to preserve cars that would have been lost than trash stockers.

The doors on this car used to be brazed and leaded and they pounded the **** out of the doors to "sink" them "flush" with the quarters.

So I cut these sections out and made new panels... bent the lips in the brake and used the shrinker to match the curve.

I need to bring the body back before I can customize it.

    now for the end caps.

hey DirtyT the hex isnt chopped... your talking about my chopped 49 huh?

I'll update pics soon, I had to order new fine thread screws for my door hinges before I start welding the doors... I'm done with the A pillars but I cant touch the sides till I adjust the door a little and fix the door to quarter gap. Trust me I'm on it.

I'm ******* both cars at once... haha

    I'll keep posting updates-

yeah rolled a bead and then cut right up to the edge then softly hammered it in around a dolly so its rolled- I think im going to weld a 1/8 rod on the back side to help support the panel-

    Tuck:
I have a 30 Ford Coupe that's not quite so bad as yours is in the rear quarter department--I've been thinking about doing a fix on it, have talked to a few people who are in the business also...

I bought a shrinker/stretcher from Woodward Ave Tools over the weekend in Kalamazoo, MI--going to see if I can duplicate your efforts..when the snow clears somewhat...it's the same basic product that Eastwood sells...

so I'm on the same track as you are..but I have the beaded feature lines at the bottom of the panel and around the wheel housing that your early Model A doesn't have...

You are right about rodders saving stuff that restorers p*** over...I did the same thing with my chopped coupe--I put parts from 16 different Model A's in the reconstruction of that car--only to get *****ed at for screwing up a "perfectly good old Model A"--

Nice effort and GREAT results....the rest of the body should be a breeze!

Are you kidding me?? I've been doing it the hard way?? What’s this FORD BARN you are talking about? You mean to tell me there is a barn you know of where I can find a good hunk of stock tin to make a Hot Rod out of?? Do tell… That’s some really nice work. I’m looking forward to the updates on both cars...

I think the Ford barn is mainly restorers. I think they may be scared of us over here. Too bad. I'm sure they have a lot of guys with tons of knowledge.

Look at the bright side: You had the courage to tackle STEEL; unlike me, who settled for gl***! ....I did make sure it had two functioning doors though! It sure does fool a lotta' folks! I like what you're doin. it's got real character, & will get you respect from the only folks who matter in my opinion;..
them who avoid Billet & Boyd. Charge On! You're doin real good!

got this one pretty much welded up...

I've been welding on it inbetween welding on the plymouth so I dont warp anything. It came out really nice...

I bent up all new rockers/pans etc and patches for the plymouth-

that and I have been spraying john deere green in the booth... haha... dont even ask.

the other quarter is next but I wont be able to hit it till after work-
