I liked it blue, I love it now! I would love to know more about the engine swap. I am currently fitting a 365 cad in a 34.
Saved it, huh ? If you check out his Instagram of the "build", the terrible mechanicals are completely unchanged, and the supposedly "bad" body wasn't even brought down to bare metal. I just hope that the next owner of the Chemical City Coupe doesn't repaint it and say that he built it. Just sayin'...
Actually. That's on me. I talked to Dave earlier and he said mechanically it was pretty solid other than a clutch issue.
Dude. I didn't censor you. Check your convos. I thought I was doing a good thing... Feel free to repost if ya want... Or I can just undelete.
OK, I undeleted everything. A word to the fellas: This article was written from a feature sheet provided by Dave. In it, he mentioned the truck was undriveable due to a clutch issue when he got it. He also mentioned it had bad paint. At no point did he say that he was disappointed with the truck when he got it. He just wanted to make it better. In my opinion and from the pics I've seen, he did just that. I think both Dave and Jim are good folks. I think this is a misunderstanding more than anything... Kind of a shame that got in the way of the comments of this feature, but that's life - messy and confusing!
Are we supposed to vote ........BLUE! From HOT ROD to SHOW ROD......I tend to gravitate towards an old hot rod.
Jim, there has definitely been a misunderstanding and for that I am sorry. I can understand why you would be upset. I don't know where this whole "saved it" thing came from, but it wasn't from me. I have never been anything but upfront with the fact that I bought the truck complete, but undrivable due to a clutch/pressure plate issue. I never claimed to have built the truck, in person or on any tech sheet. I just simply claim to have redone it to my liking and to have taken it up a notch or two. Anyone who has talked to me about the truck at Autorama or at the Vintage Torque Fest will back me up on that. As you stated, my Instagram posting clearly shows what Marvin and I did to the truck. I do stick to my guns that while solid, the body of the truck was far from straight, and the paint job was amateur at best. It had runs as long as your arm in the bed sides and several thin spots as well. I was totally aware of the paint issues at the time of sale so it wasn't a big deal. The truck had great "bones" and several of my friends questioned my sanity when I tore it apart to redo it. As far as your reference to my coupe, I never have claimed to build that either. I have always been straight up that that was a design collaboration between myself and Jo Kerr, with JoKerr Fabrication doing 100% of the actual build. Anyone that knows me, or has worked with me in the past, will tell you I'm a strong believer on giving credit where it is due. .
That would be me... It was my over enthusiastic way of elaborating on how much I liked the changes you made. This is all my fault fellas. Buck stops here. Sorry about that.
As long as Caitlyn doesn't try to slip me the tongue, I'm in for a group hug. Ryan included... LOL... .
more the fault of the power of the descriptive words. a year ago, you could have easily posted a picture of the original version and wrote about the "honest" condition of the original tin comfortable like an old pair of jeans, and the quirkiness of adapting the caddy power plant and how much power it pulled the little truck around and the mix of comments and opinions would have been about the same. nice truck, before and after great hero, before....................not so much after.
lol ... I have laughed more then usual with all the typical criminals present. Happy Monday in the works.
