I need to tap your vasy knowledge. During the 60's, GM had a 4 cyl engine that came in the chevy II/Nova's. Can you tell me what size that engine is? How hard are they to find?

    Thanks

I think they used that one and its big brother (183? I think) in marine applications...Mercruiser comes to mind.It was used until recently and maybe still is.

Hey, check with H.A.M.B. member OFT (Earl is his name) sometime. He has a 1923 dirt style with the 153 cu. ChevyII motor in it. If you want first hand info maybe talk to him.

I've seen these little guys back in the day...I always thought they were kind of cool. A lot of them got used up in midget/sprints. I don't know if they are all that easy to find anymore. Maybe in pockets in some parts of the country...not around here though.

So, you planning on doing something a little different with one of those? ;)

They were basically a 230 with two cylinders cut off, so the basic rebuild parts are still available through normal channels, and since 230 racers used to use 283 pistons, you could use half a set of domed 283 slugs in it.
