Shaved the drip rails last week... nice to see the roof finally back together. One major **** up happened, while **** welding the roof panels on, or maybe when we where grinding the welds, i didn't have the side gl*** out of the car yet but they where covered.... or we thought... ya right. When i went to pull the side gl*** out, the gl*** felt really bumpy, so upon further inspection, the gl*** is all burned full of holes from slag which really ****s cause it was all factory tint. My 4 door sedan parts car has blue tint, and this one has green factory tint. So even the front door gl*** is no use to me. So now I have to replace ALL the gl*** in the 4 doors of the wagon, and the long sidegl***. Not to mention i found a big chip in the tailgate gl***. GRRRRRRRRR oh well that just bumped my costs up $1000... -A Just have to finish the Firewall, door handles, tailgate and dog legs, then we can drop the frame and start working on the air suspension. Never ending!!
Metal work on the roof looks real good. I love long roofs. One day ill get me one. Not like I don't have enough projects as it is.
I feel for you. I had to replace all my gl*** in my 53 wagon (twice). you can find flat green tint gl*** as most gl*** shops. Take your original down and use them as patterns. I did and my last set of gl*** (all 7 pieces) cost me about $300 No original GM markings but they are good quality.
$300 for all the gl*** cut and with the edges smoothed???? wow I thought it would be way more expensive...
i got a quote to cut 1 piece of gl*** for the back side window on my wagon and it was about $400.00. maybe the gl*** guy didnt want to do it?
Baggin' it will be cake. Biggest PITA is running the airlines in the long *** thing. As least that's what I thought with my buick..... Put mine back in the shop yesterday and started getting it ready for a little bit of paint and an unbroken windsheild.
Hay i'm a gl*** guy 1000 is waaaaaaaaaayyy to much, PM me i can hook you up if your comeing to autorama we can work something out
I bought 50 feet of Parker 1/2" line, but the compressors and chrome tanks are going to be very visible so I'm thinking of doing hardlines anywhere visible... similar to this setup, less the chromed iron railing
