I read these posts and have to wonder why we have to keep talking about Ebay.

What the hell did car guys talk about before Ebay came along?

    Maybe this will help?

"The Top 10 Things Your Momma Never Told You About Ebay...."

    1. There is some complete junk on Ebay.
    2. There are *****s on Ebay.
    3. There are Crooks on Ebay.

    5. There are old parts on Ebay.
    6. There are things listed falsely on Ebay.
    7. There are things listed for 100 times what they are worth on Ebay.
    8. There are things that sell for 100 times what they are worth on Ebay.
    9. There are 32 Fords aplenty for $25. with no reserve and two hours left on Ebay.
    10. The 32 Ford mentioned in number 9. jumped to $36,000 in three minutes cuz somebody had to list it in a message board.

I, for one, enjoy the eBay rants.........It is like the Jerry Springer show...
Everyone likes to rant and moan ...about how sorry and no acount it is..........but they love to look.....

Everyone LOVES to sell their stuff on eBay for the crazy unheard of prices.......but when it does not sell..........they get all twisted up......

The fact is eBay is here to stay....
And it has raised prices......and the supply of neat stuff...

I have bought some cool stuff off eBay that I would never find a swap meet. I have been sniped too....

All part of the game....called eBay...

    :D

Well...I sell on both ebay and the HAMB. As far as I know, I have never sold anything on the HAMB for more than it was worth. I have done it on ebay lots. Is that my fault? I usually sell with no reserve. I let the market set the price.
The answer to me is education - educate yourself. Whether I am buying or selling on the HAMB or ebay, I always investigate what I am looking at to see what pricing is like. Suppliers catalogs are pretty cheap - some free - and will help you make your decision. I have seen plenty of items on the HAMB Cl***ifieds at or near retail - other boards do it too - it is not just ebay.
I have Hollander Interchange books from the 30's to the 70's. Those have kept me from making mistakes and have also helped make some good buys. In addition, I have carb books, Standard Catalogs, and other informational books which I use everyday.
A lot of us older guys know where to buy wheels & tires, fender skirts, floorpans, etc but there is always a question on the HAMB about where to find them. Street Rodder, Hot Rod, etc are good places to find suppliers and about 98% of them have websites or 800-numbers. Man, use your computer - do some homework before you buy or sell!
Good or bad we set price when we buy something.
