Hi all! My name is Sarah, I am 33 and I am from Virginia. I have a 1932 Rat Rod aka Franky and my new baby, a 1955 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan aka Lucille. I am just starting the process of pulling the original 292 Y block and Fordomatic trans out of her. I bought her in running condition but she developed a knock and stopped on me one day. I tore the heads off and found that a piston had crumbled to pieces, leaving nothing but the wrist pin and connecting rod to damage the cylinder wall beyond repair! Luckily, I come from a family of Ford lovers. My uncle gave me a 289 with c4 trans out of his 68 Mustang. I am nervous about the swap, but I am confident that we can make it happen, maybe with some help of some of you more experienced fellers on here! And if anyone needs any Y block parts or would like the trans, please let me know. Once I pull it, I will be getting rid of everything. The head doesn't seem to be damaged other than needing new valves on that cylinder. The trans worked perfectly when she ran!
I see you made it here Now just click on this: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/social-forums/1952-59-ford-social-group.282/
Welcome to the H.A.M.B. best of luck with your swap. Do avoid the term Rat Rod on the H.A.M.B. though.
Thanks for the welcome. Although I don't find the term Rat Rod offensive as some do, I will make sure to not use it here. But in essence, that's what our 32 is. It has no real make or model as it is several different cars put together. I only call it a 32 because that's what it is ***led as. I embrace the term Rat Rod because I have nothing more than a poor man's hot rod that is rusty as hell and is going to stay that way. Why mess with what it took mother nature so long to accomplish? This is truly a car that shows mine and my husband's at***ude (we built it together). We have a lot of detail and craftsmanship in this car that you won't see in just one look. I am sorry if I have offended anyone, but Rat Rod is truly the spot on description for our car. It didn't come off an ***embly line in Detriot, it was built with blood, sweat and many beers! His name is Frankenstein (Franky)! Frank by RattyFairlane posted Jul 11, 2015 at 7:57 PM
You're right, it doesn't. Its sitting on a 32 Packard frame. Never said it had anything to do with a Ford.
