We've completely redesigned the HAMB... Again. Subtle, right? Actually, most of the changes you will only be able to notice from your mobile devices and iPads. We contracted a usability expert to have a look see and now we are testing their changes. It's live. There might be bugs. Speak up if you see one. Frankly, I think it's a lot better than the mobile app. Only thing the app offers that is better is notifications... Slowly but surely going down the checklist after that survey a few weeks ago.
Just jumped on, and thought maybe I'd pressed the app ****on instead. Kinda felt bad for not using the app, after you guys went to so much trouble to get them sorted a few years ago, but found using phone easy on main site. So far, no problems on my end, but haven't been on for more fiveish minutes. Looks great.
On an iphone 6....everything is lookin' dandy. Nice. Fully functional JJ in the palm of your hand. When you go to the Jalopy Journal home page, it's kind of zoomed in and double-spaced. Maybe it's just me....
Interesting numbers after testing... Tested with 2500 users ranging from the internet "savvy" to internet "idiots" by usability people. Keep in mind, the audience wasn't hot rodders - just randomly selected subjects. 0 = ****, 100 = perfect OLD H.A.M.B., regular browser score: 79 OLD H.A.M.B., mobile browser score: 61 NEW H.A.M.B., regular browser score: 90 NEW H.A.M.B., mobile browser score: 93 .... Honestly, I don't put much stock in it... but made me feel good anyway...
I've been using the app and like it other than no access to pic's. I can't even use the ones in photobucket. I'm going straight to the main site to check it out Thanks Ryan
I do almost all my time here on a Galaxy Note 3, no app, and it feels right. For reading and p***ive it's perfect, for simple stuff like photo insertion the phone still doesn't cut it..
My only complaint about the app (and it might just be me) is that when its first loaded, you have the ability to access all the different sections of the HAMB. Once you jump over to view the "subscribed" threads, I have yet to find a way back to the "home" page without completely closing out and restarting the app.
The "next" ****on for navigating to the next page doesn't seem to work. But only on the main page. It works inside threads.
And with the changes, using a PC, if you go to the last page then to an older page you CAN NOT go back to the last page.
Keep hitting the < arrow in the upper left corner until you get back to the top. Instead of the < you'll see three horizontal lines. Hit that and you'll get the menu where you can go to Subscribed or Browse or whatever.
The differences are noticeable viewing from a browser, it definitely has an improved look, elements don't look washed out. One bug I picked up when viewing the 8th page on the THE RANDY CANNAROZZI '29 thread I can't click on the next page ****on or page 9 ****on, but I can click on the 9th page ****on in the forum list
On my phone sometimes the Next ****on and a few others move off the right side of the screen and the rest of the page narrows. Otherwise I like it!
I'm not that 'savvy' and still manage to navigate through the Android application and post replies if I have something worthwhile to add? I do however have to wait until I'm at home to upload other pictures etc as I don't have access to them via mobile (Cell) phone.
On my IPad, my fingers are too fat to hit the little red ****on that's left of the thread ***le. The one that gets you to the latest post. Half the time I hit the OP's avatar, and the other 60% I hit the thread ***le.
The Galaxy 2 has been given renewed vigor ! Lazarus gets a toot of ****** ! You just saved me at least 6 more months before being forced to buy whatever they will have then. As well, I know the cost of app writing .... and for sure thank you for this expenditure. I like chairs and PC, but sure helps me step off of the ole' homestead. Much better !
