Anyone had to take them off?

  2. did you? are they not DOT legal? unless they stick out ,many states have a body or fender allowance, many don't, i would think they would be legal to run, even if a individual officer just don't like them,i would like to hear from anyone also, good question

No I havn't used them yet. My car is a long way from done. I ordered a set from Radir and am getting nervous. They say right on them "designed for dragracing only not for highway use"

I've seen cars from other states running them but never a car from NH. I was just curious of others experiences. I am selling mine in the cl***ified section now. I'll get a set of Firestone ones. They are not as cool but they are D.O.T. approved.

Isn't your plate on that thing gonna say "Live Free or Die"?:D

Are you worried about getting pulled over and the nice officer telling you to take em off? Or are you worried about getting a sticker? If it's a sticker, then just get a second set of meats for that specific purpose. You can always use those for everyday driving and throw the cheaters on for special occasions.

If you're worried about getting caught by the man, I bet you'll just get a warning......if it ever even happens.

The sticker isn't the problem. It's D.O.T. I will try showing the nice officer the plate though and see where that gets me :D

It won't be a warning here. It will be a "fix it ticket", that has to be signed by an inspection station or police officer.

Maybe I'll just give it a shot and if I have trouble Get the other ones.

Now was that really necessary?

I knew it was coming though! It's already going to be a straight axle 63 Pontic Lamans with a one piece nose, so I guess a set of illegal tires won't make too much difference.

I seen them run in NH, and real ones with cut grooves.

The only time I would worry is if you got in an accident and the were searching for someone to find at fault.

Yes i run the ones from radir, and yes I have been pulled over for them . they do say dot on them and the treat depth is 9/32 so they are legal , BUT I do get pulled over all the damn time , the city cops are Kool but the troopers are not so impressed with the style of my sedan. so my 2 cents is be sure your not drinking , and check ALL the local laws and make sure your car meets them cause you will get har***ed, and after like 6 warning tickets here it gets alittle old. now they are talking about after so many warnings what to do with me. And the exhuast is anouther issue, the ks law says it is up the the officers descretion as to what is too loud, so I might have to change the pipes on my car just to keep the MAN OFF MY ***. If you want to call me chicken for buckeling to the system I guess you will have too but I drive my hot rod a LOT more then most people, even in 30 degree weather. I think it all boils down to there just aren't many hot rods around this part and the troopers are a little freaked out about it. I swear I can't p*** one that doesn't turn around and pull me over, never got a ticket yet but one day i will have had a beer or three and be in deep trouble. so your call , just depends on your local law and how kool they are. feeling lucky ?

Thats the problem here. Small town and everyone will know the car. Especially the fuzz!.

The tires I have don't even say D.O.T. on them so I guess I'm screwed. The only ones that are D.O.T. aproved are the small ones with the checkered flag tread... or the Firestone ones.

print the add out for the hurst tires and keep it in the car for when the cops pull you over. it will teach them that they are legal and avoid pulling you over in the future just make sure to sand off the not for highway use

I'm running 30 year old tires that never had a DOT number...I'm not worried...what are the cops gonna do, make me put DOT on tires that never had 'em?

The Firestones ****...they have a big hump in the middle of the tread and they don't put a good footprint onto the pavement...be a big boy and run what ya got...tell 'em they are NOS 60's vintage..never said DOT...
