Just happened to see this cradle this morning and thought of this thread. See how the p***enger side is shifted ahead slightly for clearance? Food for thought.

Yep agreed. If I hadn't already committed to welding in the frame pads, I would consider moving one mount forward.

I'm gonna try the new bracket with the clearance added to it and see if I like it...

I'm hoping the smaller opening will clear the pump... But I made 2 just in case...

Smaller one clears. Great success! (Borat voice). I also bent the flanges to 87 degrees, instead of 90 this time, taking into account the crank centerline angle.

Did you see of the fuel pump can come off while the mount is still attached?

    It looks awesome!

What about matching up the other side to match the fuel pump cutout? Just a thought. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

I actually kinda dig the asymmetrical look. Maybe if I put it on there all powder coated and I decide it's too funky, I can always make another one...

Trying to get one thing done every day... Put the intake manifold on. I like using bolts with a serated flange. Makes ***embly easier, and eliminates the ugly washers. Also plugged the acessory holes in the heads with some jb weld. Getting closer. Next task is figuring out a pcv set up with the stock valve covers...

Exceptional detail on everything. What does your mount measure? I have a stock Hurst one and it measures 22" and the holes are 20" on center.

I remember some early small block Chevrolets as having a PCV valve that screwed into a fitting on the oil fill tube. They must have had a vent where the down draft tube originally fit. I solved my problem by hiding the PCV system in an aftermarket breather.

I didn't have an oil filler tube on my intake so I used another breather on the other side to double as an intake vent and oil fill.

What kind of baffling is in those breathers? Is it a packing like substance? Like a very co**** steel wool or a charcoal type filter? or is it just baffled with sheet metal

The ones I got had a plastic mesh like steel wool (only plastic and foam). I had to make up a plate to fit inside that sealed to the breather and the O ring for the PCV fit in the middle then used a ****** that I made to fit the side.

Planning out the pcv plumbing. I think I'm going to put the vent on the p***enger side, since its getting crowded by the manifold port. I need to be able to pick up vacuum for the distributor and pcv valve from here.

If you put the vent directly into the valve cover don't forget you will need a baffle on the inside so oil is not ****ed into the system. I think it may be hard to find enough room on the side to put a baffle inside. And the engine still needs an air intake, usually on the other valve cover.

Yeah. I have a baffle drawn up that will get packed with filter material. It's most likely getting mounted at the back. The valve isn't going directly into the valve cover. It is getting a tube welded to it for a rubber hose to clamp to. The baffle will be before the tube sticking out of the valve cover.
