Anyone have a source for sheet metal or aluminum sheet with the engine turning effect already done on it? Thanks for your help
I don't know of any but I've done some of it. Pretty easy really just takes a drill press and a wooden dowel the size you want the circles to be. Combine with lapping compound on the end of the dowel. Place a stop on your drill press table and make the first one. Move 1/2 hole sidewise and continue until that horizontal row is finished. Move your stop 1/2 hole and repeat. If you're doing a firewall you might want to use a large diameter dowell and bring your lunch cause it may take a while.
If it has to be metal then my suggestion won't be of any value. The cabinet industry has had a formica out for a while that looks identical. Formica is a trade name, as well as a manufacturer, but any supplier of plastic laminate should have a version of what looks to be engine turned metal. It works exceptionally well for flat dashes, will flex somewhat, and is quite durable.
sir: Izzat a good "Good Luck" or a warning "Good Luck" ? Cause I kinda like one of the dash plates...just wanted a heads-up before ordering.....Stan
Same question as Turbo26T. I know everyone I can think of gets theirs from them. Speedway, and Eastwood. Do they **** selling to the public?
An old hot rodder told me about the wooden dowel method only he used toothpaste for a compound. Cheaper and readily available.
I have a "hanline" dash in my "66" very happy with the looks and the gauges....as far as "fp-metals is concerned I have never delt with them personaly....
