How much clearance is there between your frame and the rear end? How much is necessary on a model T?

Well, this car has about 2" of clearance the way it sits, we are planning to do a 1-1/2 to 2" c notch in the frame and rear subrails, and after we get the battery and gas tank we might have to put a 1" spacer under the spring, its always very hard to get the ride height exactly right with all the mixing and matching that is done, i say the more clearance the better, i like to have at least 3 to 4" of travel and that can alway depend on the suspension type and shock type etc etc.

I, personally, like hoods, but...that's a nice combination of parts and the proportions are just right.

Hey ***us, did you extend the wheelbase at all? working on an A frame for a similar project and like the proportions. In the pics it looks like about 3" added to the A wheelbase of 103"????

I did extend it but i can remember how much, i can do a wheelbase measuremnt and get back to you i basically mounted the motor in the frame, slid the body up to it and then made sure back half the frame i made was long enough.

    So.......

Andy got to working on the car but ran out of time and space so it was decided that i would get the car on the road for them.

So in the last few weeks weve been hitting it pretty hard to get it done for msra's Back to the fifties thats this weekend and today i took it for its maiden voyage, seemed to work really well.

everything worked good but it wasnt with out its fair share of problems
when we got the motor running we could tell it had a miss, so we did some investigating and found a deal hole, did a compression test, no compression, pulled the valve cover off and found this

bent pushrod, i knew why this had happened, it had a stuck valve from sitting of course, luckily it wasnt stuck super bad and we were able to get it freed up pretty easily, now were back to 125 lbs in that cylinder.

got it running super good and was driving it around the neighborhood and it died on me

so i rolled over to the side of the road, pulled the coil wire but it had spark, so i checked for spark at a plug wire, no spark there, so i popped the cap off and found that the tip of the rotor had fallen off!

i ended up pusshing it a block to get it rolling down a big hill, i was then able ride it out to a block away from home then called my wife and she drove out and drug it back home with a tow strap!

and thats about it for now, heres some pics of the ch***is and motor
