I was just wondering what you guys thought my coupe might be worth. It is a rust free body has no patches or filler, 401 Buick nailhead, st400 trans, and a ford 9 inch. Also has new Coker biasplys all around. Needs wiring paint and interior.
You are more than 3/4 s there. Keep it going for the maximum bucks. Now it is just another project. My 2 cents.
Unless you are desperate, don't fire sale it. Put # down you can live with ,add 2000 for bargaining and see where it goes. Good luck. I have no real idea what it is worth , but there has been one near me that says it is running and driving for 15.
Paint? What's the matter with the paint?? Don't give it away, you've come too far. If you don't HAVE money to finish it, shoot some mystery oil in the cylinders and give it a nap- they're very patient. If you NEED money, save that coupe and do some side work ( or sell the dining room set, or your lawnmower; be creative). If you get rid of that little beauty now, you'll wish you hadn't! SOOOOO close!
$9K as it sits, $18K if the buyer can drive it home with functional wiring, a basic seat, ect, even without paint or upholstery.
Paint to make it shiney and straight. I don't have to sell it just burnt out in workin on it all the time and kinda want a flathead powered A
Maybe you BOTH need a break- I can either put in 12 hours on a project and everything's cool, or I can't get psyched enough sometimes to do anything. I've taken up the motto " If you don't know what to do, don't do anything". Crack a cool drink and sit down and appreciate how far you've come with it already- I heard a rumor that even the guy that created heaven and earth took a day off!
I would figure out a way to keep it. Not running it's just another parts car. To be honest, not a lot of value beyond motor, body and tires. If you have to, probably would do well parting it out. If mine, I would save motor for another project and sell the rest.
Fine 29, that's a good looking car and if you look at the big picture, it needs finishing up. No telling how many I have sold in that condition, heck my 34 is almost exactly in the same shape as we speak. BUT I wouldn't give it away if it came to that . A wiring harness is about 300 bucks and a days work for anybody. If you look around, a stock ,running , rust free A, all steel, would set you back five digits. At least as far as I have seen. Add to that your prep work and pile of parts that some one wouldn't have to buy, and you have a great start to a nice hot rod. Interior and paint are options. I think if you can swing it at all, get it cranked and pulling in and out of the garage, and you have added 30-40% of resale value to that car. Not a bad return on the cost of a harness. I sincerely hope it works out for you.
Hard to tell from the pictures, but if that is a HAMB shift knob it will certainly increase the value of the car.
