A local welder calls me a while back and says he has some lights for me. I go check them out and they are some perfect looking guide headlights. No tags but there is a guide stamp on the back. The only problem is They are setup to be mounted sideways or should I say the mounting stud is on the side and not the bottom. They are guides with the marker lens on the top or if mounted like a highboy the marker will be on the side.. Anybody ever seen some of these. Was gonna try to run them but the lense will be on the sides. I quess it would be different. Any idea what they are from? Heres some pics

  2. I don't know what they're from but htey'd be perfect for a bike project I'm starting.

They appear to be a sealed beam so I think you could rotate the lamp to the right orientation.

How are the marker lights attached? Are they spot welded on? Maybe you could drill out the welds, reposition them and weld up the remaining holes. That or perhaps the mounting stud area could be cut out and repositioned, then use the metal from where they're going to patch the hole from where they came.

...hey Bubba. Those are for COE trucks and mount to the side of the radiator shell, so the turn signal stays on top. Just remount the turn signal to the top and run 'em...

Those would be perfect if you wanted to run them hung off the side of your grilleshell, tractor-style. I'll bet you can re-clock the marker lights if you look carefully at how they're ***embled. Aside from the side-mounting and the fact that yours have trim rings, they look just like mine. 7" sealed-beam, right?

Not to hijack, but anybody know where I can get trim rings like that? I asked a long time ago, but I've forgotten the answer.

These look like headlights that came from a 36 chevy. They mount on a stand and attach to the side of the grille shell. The indentation looks exactly the same as my 36 chevy headlights.

Roy Olsen in Sioux City Iowa repops the trim rings and the retainer rings for Guides and BLC headlights. Go to ebay and search this auction:4608928297. His ebay name is ROOM4MORE. He doesn't have the trim rings up for auction right now, but contact him and he'll hook you up. I've got a set on the coupe and they look great.

I know the saying that cant never could. But where the marker light mounts there is a indentation or stamp in the rim that it sites in. So I f I rotated that indention would always be there. May run them ****ed over or run my mount up to it straight. Either way I think the would be cool. What do yall think? Was gonna use some old headlight bars to make a tie between the two lights and run as is.

Why not run the mount at the bottom and the marker/Tsignal light on the side?

You can turn the bulb by filing a new notch in the bucket rim for the bulb's locator "bump"

Just be sure and drill a new drain hole at the new bottom or they will rust out.

Not at all specific to a COE. I have a virtually identical set that came off a 36 Reo dump truck.

I've got a set of those, handy just for replacement markers and gl*** :)

    So THAT's who ROOM4MORE is.

He bids on every set of Guides or BLCs on Ebay.

He must be a headlight *****.

I'll freely admit that I may be the only guy here that doesn't like the look of Glide headlights with the turn light on top, just looks like a pimple on a perfectly good light. Why not mount them the way they are and have the turn light on the side?:)

I've got one (1) of those lites if anyone needs one...$60.00 plus shipping.
I think it's off a big truck like a Reo or White. Mine has a cast bracket that bolts onto the mount bolt.

I guess I'm the only one that would carfully cut out a square around the mount area, make a pattern for a template to cut the bottom out and reweld the patch where the mount used to be. If you take your time it should be reasonably easy with very little body work. but that's just me.

I don't want to highjack the thread, but does anyone know where I can find a pair of those marker lights? I have a pair of lights that are missing the markers.

I like them because they aren't like every other set of guides I see. Either run them as is or find another set, please don't cut them up so they look like everyone else's.

I'm with those who are thinking they could still be cool with the markers on the sides... as long as you can position them so the tires don't rub the markers off!

Could you run a headlight bar across your grille, mounting the headlight studs into the bar, then some mounts that raise that bar up off the frame rails?

Well, maybe, but on my '38 COE they mount on the fender so the mounting post is on the bottom of the 682 C buckets.
